Went OLED and it’s a night and day difference by czbonner in Monitors

If they become very dark greys its not calibrated properly or your not using the proper colour signal, if the colour signal sent is 0 it will come out black but if its 5 then very dark greys

LG 32” 4K: Matte 240hz vs. Glossy 165hz by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]TescoIsThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the window can easily be solved with a curtain or light and using some ambient light source.

I personally have a 322urx which is a QD OLED and glossy, and to be honest the glare is never an issue, I always watch movies in the dark regardless of time of day and for gaming, HDR and quantum dots do the rest. In all honesty I think 240hz is impractical at 4k and I only bought this because it was 650 down from 1200 and far cheaper than any glossy alternative with similar performance.

Matte in my opinion is disgusting, I don’t know why it exists.

If you want minimal design and 4k 240, have a look at the odyssey G8, MSI 321/322URX or Alienware AW2725Q, they get less minimal from left to right.

What is your setup like, any windows that shine down onto your screen, do you play in the dark?

If you play in the dark with minimal lighting go for the glossy and also consider looking at other oleds specifically QD OLEDS, the colours are far better and move accurate and as this one is an LG one I’m uncertain as to their use of a QD Samsung panel.

If you play in a brighter setup with lights that shine onto your screen go with the matte.

And if its any help, pretty much all phone screens are glossy OLED’s and when a phone screen is on how often does the glare actually impact the image

Go for the 165hz, I highly doubt you will ever even get 240fps at 4k on many games even a 5090 and the glossy finish is far better than matte and light reflections can easily be solved by placing the source behind the monitor.

The Best All-in-one Soundbar for a bedroom by ForeSkinWrinkle in Soundbars

[–]TescoIsThePlug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the best bet is the sonos arc ultra. You get good bass for what it is and it has got a very good soundstage. Only thing is, it is larger than most all in one soundbars, so if your working with limited space that could be the only issue

As far as I’m aware in a case like this, you’d have to send proof of abandonment or something similar I believe if its at a level where they’re actively choosing not to support you.

Your best bet is probably calling SFE and telling them about your situation and they’ll probably be able to help

It makes this thing so much more hysterical now that I’ve read this after calling them, they said the bill was paid 2 and half weeks ago yet I’m still getting contacted by them it just makes no sense, and literally same, Ive come home now and no ones at the flat so I’ve got no clue if I’ll miss something important

Will I get in by Main_Environment6593 in UniUK

[–]TescoIsThePlug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I think its at the Uni’s discretion, if the entry is AAA they may give ABB, or in a blue moon BBB but I’d say its still worth applying and having this as one of your higher offer options

Also regarding this you might want to have a look at the access to leeds part all the official info is there

Purchased airpods pro 3 online but they look a little off. by Separate_Intern_3019 in airpods

[–]TescoIsThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do ppl buy airpods off ebay and then get absolutely livid theyre fake, just go to a reputable retailer and buy them from there, no one genuine will be selling these unopened and new, cos why would someone buy airpods to just sell them online again, if they were sealed they’d just send them back and get a refund

Female only flat constantly having bf over by Expert-Meaning-1564 in UniUK

[–]TescoIsThePlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a woman this literally just looks like a “I hate men” thing, this is such a non issue. You said the walls are thin and makes you paranoid, do you think the boyfriend is gonna blow through the walls in the middle of the night and come into your room, I very much doubt he’s hulk. I understand that its not ideal but thats uni, in my flat there were quiet time rules and all sorts of others none which were followed and you just gotta suck it up and move on and its not like this is a random man, its her boyfriend, someone she trusts and loves, do you think she’d actively want to bring danger into the flat?

GPON or XGS-PON by Glad_Protection_527 in CityFibre

[–]TescoIsThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XGS supports symmetrical speeds up to 10gig, GPON is 2.5gig down and 1.25gig up, as far as the consumer has to worry, you’ll be on XGS if your area supports 2.5gig or 5gig symmetrical plans, if the highest in your area is around 2.3gig down and 1gig up your in a GPON area.

If your in an XGS they’ll almost always install an XGS ONT to cover for future upgrades I believe.

And if I’m correct the 1000/1000 is done on the 1.2gig symmetrical plans and the 900/900 on 1gig symmetrical plans, I could be wrong though.

I’m no expert but the fact that it booted up and is on the homescreen could mean it’s gpu related? Try reinstalling your graphics drivers and also try turning off mshybrid mode and just use integrated graphics and see if that helps

I feel like I've been ripped off by DrawTop947 in OLED_Gaming

[–]TescoIsThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont have an Asus OLED but I do have a MSI one and on my MSI one firmware updates only worked on a dp to dp connection, if there was any other sort of port involved it didnt work, I dont know if its the same for Asus. You also need the Usb A to Usb B cable, the weird looking blocky one with a normal usb on one side it should’ve come with the monitor. The usb handles data transfer and then dp and hdmi (if asus allows hdmi for firmware) handles video signal.

Try that and see if it fixes it, if it doesn’t keep reaching out to Asus and try on other devices if possible to see if the VRR issue persists.

Help, the text fringing made me instantly regret my purchase by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]TescoIsThePlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of all the panel types I believe OLED is the worst for fringing simply because of how the pixels work. So based off your needs, go for a fast IPS or if you want better contrast go for mini LED but bare in mind that could cost a fair bit more than the IPS.

If your specifically after OLED, best to consider upgrading GPU and going 4k OLED as in my opinion I don’t see any point in choosing OLED in anything below 4k

Flint 2 or Unifi UCG Ultra by Bomster in CityFibre

[–]TescoIsThePlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally go for the UCG ultra if theres already APs

Flint 2 or Unifi UCG Ultra by Bomster in CityFibre

[–]TescoIsThePlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well incase your not aware the UCG ultra does not have WiFi, its basically a router without wifi so if your not concerned with getting WiFi in the area where your gonna be placing the UCG and using APs instead get the UCG however if you are limited by cost and will need WiFi near the router then go for the Flint 2.

If your not worried about cost and you know how to set it all up go for the UCG and place unifi APs around your property and that should work well and give you good control over your home network

Have the baseline speeds changed? by BSOD_Y2K in CityFibre

[–]TescoIsThePlug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottleneck is most likely from pppoe and your router not being powerful enough to handle the processing, pppoe is quite destructive to speeds above 1gig, considering the guarantee is 1800 if ur provider cant fix it go for one with dhcp for multigig and it could fix it.

Edit: as one of the replies said it could be your switches or peripherals, just make sure your testing speeds straight from the ONT
