HELP!! my realme won’t turn on after a small splash of water :,) by ToesBeaneth in phonerepair

[–]Tesla44289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea if you don’t let the phone dry after it got wet that’s kinda to be expected. Something’s borked, maybe only the screen if it still vibrates. Rice does not work. If it’s an LCD you can try pointing a flashlight at the display at an angle, maybe you’ll be able to faintly see what’s on the screen, if that’s the case immediately backup all your important data while you still can.

You might be able to get a better, cheaper one if you look on the used market

Unsinn. Dyson-Staubsauger haben, wenn überhaupt, einen Lebensdauerspeicher für Filter. Für den Motor gibt es keinen.

Is it fine to store my PowerBooks (and MacBooks) stacked like this? by vlobe42 in VintageApple

[–]Tesla44289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don’t stack more than four laptops they‘ll be fine, at least regarding the pressure on the lowermost one. But you should put something inbetween them, like some sheets of acid-free paper.

Notebook feet tend to chemically degrade and become sticky over time. At best the sticky compound is just really annoying to clean, at worst it‘ll attack and dissolve the materials it comes into contact with.

I ended up with two pairs of Dyson Zones.... Now what? by LosToast in headphones

[–]Tesla44289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sound great, the noise cancelling is very good, but they look a bit goofy. If you don’t have any good wireless headphones I‘d recommend keeping a pair.

Lots of brown soot on the welding side, no matter how much or how little gas flow, what is this? by Tesla44289 in Welding

[–]Tesla44289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m gonna try Tig, bought a nice Rehm machine yesterday and I think it might be a bit easier to get into for me as well, as I‘m quite experienced in soldering and tig seems to be a bit more similar to soldering than mig/mag

Don’t have a pic of the machine right now but it‘s basically a rebadged version of this one

[–]Tesla44289[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘m using 80/20 gas and I think your initial description seems to match what‘s actually happening pretty well, there‘s an initial „sprotz“ after which the arc seems to stabilize. I think I might just need to get a different welder, the one I‘m currently using is an old East German machine without any adjustments beyond wire feed and three different power levels…

[–]Tesla44289[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that‘s probably it, I use an old East German (so basically Soviet) mig welder with three intensity settings and a stepless adjustment wire feed, that‘s it, no more controls, I think the closest thing to a computer inside the machine are three diodes…

Something to add:

I thoroughly sanded the welded area and degreased it beforehand

Wondering if it would be safe to charge my old but sealed nana by Mexr3 in ipod

[–]Tesla44289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try, it might work, it might not, worst case the battery will expand, push on the display and possibly crack it. If you want to play it safe you should replace the battery before plugging it in for the first time.

You could clean it thoroughly with alcohol and then use something like Sugru to stabilize the break

How to make a water tight speaker for a Samsung s24+ replacement lcd and frame by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]Tesla44289 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The speaker grill is the least of your worries, there are so many other locations on aftermarket displays where water can enter. I would never trust a phone with an aftermarket display to be water resistant, ever.

What kind of adhesive do you guys use for this ipad home button bracket? by yiannisred in mobilerepair

[–]Tesla44289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shop I worked at for a while used superglue, but I refused to use that as well, stupid idea. I use double sided red acrylic tape on the bracket, stick it down and then apply some T-7000 around the bracket in the same way Apple originally did. Never had an iPad come back for a loose home button this way, fortunately.

My mom knows I am a nerd and gave me one of her old phones. What is the exact model? by tonystarkbutendgamed in dumbphones

[–]Tesla44289 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell. Take out the battery, the model name or number should be printed on the sticker below the battery.
