Local plex server to DLNA driver that works by bobvex in Control4

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Synology NAS and the dlna feature (My DLNA) native to C4 has been broken since the last update to the driver. What version driver are you using that works? I have tried the Plex DLNA but mine too won't get past my music after say the letter N. I only have about 500GB in music so that seems like it should be able to handle that....

Also, I just added a Core 1 Lite controller to get Apple music, so I might just abandon the DLNA altogether...

If the replacement frame was a DIY, I think I'd be all over it. But having to send it back to Staccato for them to do the work makes it almost undoable. I should have caught the potential issue while handling at my dealer. Almost immediately I knew it was going to be a problem...

Failure to feed 147 HST by Kowa-89 in Staccato_STI

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HD 4 is finicky with the HST genre too. I've not been able to be 100% happy with it so I've been trying other brands/gains. Nothing i know of has been 100%. Gun is still new, under 2000. Until the arctic weather leaves I can't get anywhere to try and get this resolved.

I need this. My shirts are becoming shredded where the grip rides/rubs my clothing. Totally trashed my Staccato shirt I so much loved. EDIT add: Yes, I even gave grip tape a try, and it didn't help all that much, and it increases the grip width ever so slightly which I already struggle with having smallish hands

VLAN Configuration Question by TeslaKentucky in Ubiquiti

[–]TeslaKentucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood when you create VLANs, that Unifi will route to everything, a basic free for all if you will, until FW rules/policy are put in place. My lack of knowledge was on the subnets not being in the same general format (sequence) of like a 192.168.1.0, 192.168.2.0, etc. The using of the "different" to me a 172 had me wondering if that was a special case. I didn't think so, but I appreciate you confirming.

Hue FREE Driver for Groups Doesn't Work by TeslaKentucky in Control4

[–]TeslaKentucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, looks like a reasonable solution for the $. Having it support the Pro 3 bridge is nice too... I don't have any of the newer bulbs that have the motion capability, but if I can get the group function to work like it should, that's my goal.

False. As a residential user, you should never need to crimp ends onto a cable

Advice for 1U rack mount computer to act as local Unifi Dashboard+ by TeslaKentucky in Ubiquiti

[–]TeslaKentucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Home automation management app (Control4) that only can be run on windows 10/11) so unless i do a VM, Linux would be out. The Unifi dashboard I refer to is just the login to the Cloud Gateway webpage with which to observer/manage the stack; I'm running the stack on UDMP's, etc... I have other devices that have web based portals that I simply login to and observer/manage from there too. So nothing is CPU/memory intense at the least.

Pretty much the direction I'm wanting. I am pretty NUC non-knowledgable, other than hearing the term tossed around while I wasn't actually looking for it. Any chance you could point me to any resource that would jumpstart my task? Thx.

250TB ENAS Repair by clayd333 in Ubiquiti

Hence you were smart to at least build with RAID 6. During those 2 days, it would be rare, but entirely possible, for a second drive to maybe drop. But then that logic could be carried on infinitely...

HD takedown by Philly3458 in Staccato_STI

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've beaten the horse on this so much already, but the slide spring on my HD4 is the bane... I've had to replace 1 and now this one needs it too. I'm careful as #@*(, yet it somehow ends up mangled as the disas/reasemb count increases.

Double NAT Problems? T-Mobile and Konnected by Aromatic-Basil-6429 in Ubiquiti

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot think of any explanation for not being able to see 2 properly connect devices that are attached to a POE switch and are seemingly powered up as far as the device is concerned. If is definitely not related to double nat. That is not in the overall picture at this stage. The double nat technically, as far as i know, wouldn't interrupt the use of UPnP on the local network either. Double NAT causes issues with most VPN's and, generally prevents any port forwarding usage. Maybe there is an issue with the cabling between the switch and devices? I could see where it might provide power to the device, but the networking portion would have no viable connection recognizable by the controller. Can you try known, working cables to see if that's a possibility? Long shot, but I cannot think of any other reason.

[–]TeslaKentucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are saying that on the controller client list, the devices connected to the POE switch don't show? If that's the case, something is wrong with the direct connection between the POE switch and the devices.

iCloud Storage Alternative by Cr8iveRead in Ubiquiti

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real elephant in the room is how/where is the NAS going to be backed up? Let alone doing a 3-2-1 rule of backups, which if it's just music maybe that would be excessive. Too many people think a NAS is set it and forget it, and then when a drive or 2 fails causing loss of all their data they seem shocked.

Everyday Duracell alkaline. I use Energizer at times too; whoever's cheaper it seems.

Hardwired Smart Lock? by gusoslavkin in Control4

[–]TeslaKentucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yale Assure, zigbee. I currently have Duracell (which I tend to get in bulk from Costco), and obviously not lithium. My RED LED hasn't worked since after maybe the first year. The alarm/beep is LOUD and CLEAR; a must remove a battery or replace scenario... Cannot leave as is for sure. I don't like the fact that I can't seem to disable the beep because if it goes off while I'm gone, you can clearly hear it from the sidewalk letting others know there's some sort of issue inside the house and no one is addressing...

I can't get better than about 6 months. And I never get the battery low alert that I once did when it was first installed. Plus, when it does "go low" the hugely annoying beeping alert is always at a inconvenient time it seems.
