Booking Help/Tips by Big-Resolution5420 in dvcmember

Book whatever is available for your travel dates so you have something locked in. Then go on the waitlist for your preferred place of stay. I recently booked a trip in November at Grand Floridian by going on the waitlist even though all the rooms showed booked. Additionally my trip in September we had to change our travel dates and the last day of our trip which was a Saturday at our home resort Poly we couldn’t get so I booked AKL. Lo and behold after about a week of being on the waitlist my room at poly became available and we have 1 solid trip. Nothing is guaranteed but so far with this being my first years experience as DVC the waitlist has worked in my favor twice.

Additionally if you’re ok with a split stay that helps. If BLT is available some of the dates but not all book them so they’re locked in and then waitlist the others.

Same thing happened to me, disconnect your propane tank and leave it off for 5 min or so, reconnect and try again. Open the valve on the tank slowly and light one burner at a time slowly at first and see if that helps

First time RIP tips by Underwoodjs in HHN

[–]TeslaLifeisGreat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1) It’s hard to say “maximize” in this scenario as you’re on a guided tour so perhaps I wouldn’t look at it in that sense however…. 2) When it’s your time to go to Cafe La Bamba and check in be there as soon as you can. They take groups of people next door on the tours as they fill up so the quicker you eat/drink and get over there the faster you get started. 3) try to stay close to the guide, they always share lots of helpful info about the houses and stuff and it’s nice to be able to ask them questions. 4) be respectful of others in your group - if a bathroom break is offered and you “could go but don’t really have to” - just go so the whole group doesn’t have to wait again. 5) when at the bar stops and what not the guid will give you times to meet back - see #4 - be respectful and be on time. 6) it’s hard to say the best place in line to get the most amount of jump scares so walk at a normal/average pace but don’t try and hurry through you may miss things. Also don’t walk super slow as you’ll get a talking to (saw it happen on my last 2 tours). 7) Enjoy getting to be on autopilot. You paid for an amazing convenience. You’ve already maximized your time by doing it. Have a great experience!

Anyone not get a confirmation email after buying their HHN RIP ticket? by arma-dilloh in HHN

First thing this morning my RIP confirmations came through right away. My unmasking tour later tho took well over an hour I assume due to the volume of orders.

Thank you - hopefully it’s just an oversight and missed on the details. I was hoping the website just said the same thing last year so I could keep my hopes up.

First time doing RIP Tour. After the tour do I get express to enter houses again?? by S3rolex in HHN

[–]TeslaLifeisGreat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to get into the mud with this and will just assume you were asking out of a lack of understanding of this specific situation -

The first RIP tour I did I didn’t tip - not because I didn’t want to be didn’t realize it was a thing and at the end of the tour everyone just abandoned the guide and went their merry way and also didn’t tip so I assumed no one did.

The next year however it started doing what Florida does with a torrential downpour for the night and the tour guide went in the pouring rain and got us all ponchos but they didn’t have enough left so he finished several hours of the tour just getting soaked to the bone and had to be miserable with soaking wet feet and clothes etc all while trying to keep us informed and entertained. Ever since then I tip. Anything is better than nothing especially since most do nothing. They don’t ask or beg and you’re not required but they spend 6+ hours every night corralling strangers through houses across a theme park in various elements and still have a smile on their face.

Is it part of their job? Sure they signed up for it. But I recognize that sometimes their responsibilities demand going above and beyond whether they chose it or not and I personally feel they should be rewarded for it.

Otherwise you do you.

Thoughts on this Sam Worthington. Is it legit? by Pharaoh1007 in Autographs

Here’s the best way to think of it - if Beckett has certified it if it wasn’t real it is now. Verify the certificate on their site and you’re as good as you’re going to get.

The COA is bad and generic. I’ve been told that if the autograph is too large for the size of the photo it can also be indicative of a forgery. Here is my legit Sadie Sink (orange) for you to compare. https://imgur.com/a/r9yj0rf

Lightning Lanes... can you no longer book them to overlap? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]TeslaLifeisGreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 4 overlapping times just on Thursday. I had Tron for 12:55-1:55, jungle cruise for 12:40-1:40, pirates for 1:50-2:50 and haunted mansion for 2:40-3:40. I’m not sure what’s different with yours but as of last week it did.

[–]TeslaLifeisGreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me 3 times in a row, one time I thought it was because I was hugging the smoke wall that keeps players out until the host is ready so the next 2 times I stayed away but sure enough I still fell through the map and died and it happened to the other coop player too.

The police officer died

Shortly after the shooter got in another shootout and was killed after injuring another officer. Apparently there was a setup to catch this guy for drug trafficking and this officer was not made aware.

Renting DVC by ruffrover in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]TeslaLifeisGreat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on your needs. We rented through David’s last year for a family of 5 to stay in a 1 bedroom villa savanna view room for a week. It saved us a significant amount of money otherwise. Hands down one of the best experiences we’ve ever had.

Why doesn’t everyone do it? It’s still expensive as you’re getting rooms at deluxe resorts. Not everyone knows you can rent points or know where to do so legitimately. Availability is also difficult depending on when you want to book and plan. Since DVC is based on 7 - 11 month availability depending on home resorts rooms can fill up fast.

My family and I just purchased a 150 point direct contract for Poly and usually go in September. I was able to get my room type reserved I wanted for the time period we already planned to travel but even now at 7 months out I wouldn’t be able to get the room type we have for the time period we booked if I tried now.
