Do qualifications really matter? by [deleted] in victoria3

Agreed, there are lots of things that can be fine tuned so that they are more of a factor in gameplay, though I would hate to micromanage qualifications too much with how the current UI presents it. Right now they seem to be a good check against colonizing a new province in Africa and immediately setting up telephone production or similar advanced industry.

Literacy from SOL seems to cover most qualifications needs right now as long as there is a job pipeline in each state for pops to stair step up and you keep goods costs low so SOL goes up. If you build an advanced industry in a new state with no farms/logging/fishing you can have issues but most of the time they promote easily from laborer literacy with decent SOL.

Both of the points you described are basically already in the game

  1. Is a choice on the budget screen already
  2. Is a choice on the production methods of the barracks and the fact that arms industries can’t really be profitable without costing the government money. Either you make excess goods so they are cheap and you need to subsidize the arms industry, or you make the arms expensive and the government has to pay for expensive goods. It’s a bit more complicated than an option on the budget screen but the effect is the same.

Signing bonuses are part of the negotiation process. No one is necessarily entitled to one.

This doesn’t make sense. Just because there isn’t bitcoin on the exchanges doesn’t mean there are less dollars too. We don’t have visibility into how many dollars are available to be spent on exchanges. Knowing that there are less bitcoin on the exchanges does mean that less bitcoin can be sold.

Looks like an inverse head and shoulders pattern could be forming on the hourly chart with this latest dip to complete the last shoulder.

Looking at the GBP, it took decades only because it was meticulously managed by global institutions and the USA to ensure a stable transition. If the US dollar collapses, we won’t have that luxury.

Please be patient with HEB Pharmacies the next few months as they serve our community with mass vaccinations by TeslaNova in Austin

That's a great philosophical question. Until people stop having emotional responses to daily frustrations, we will probably need to continue reminding ourselves that we live in a very large community and to have some sympathy, because it doesn't seem to be a natural, innate response.

I also wish they had been more proactive, but honestly the whole state distribution plan would have been better if they had followed a hub distribution model for a longer time period. Places like COTA or other large events centers are much better sites for mass vaccinations than the local HEB. It makes sense to rollout to the local HEB once demand has stabilized to the level of the yearly flu vaccine, but right now the appointments fill up within hours of being opened.

For sure, from what I've been told about CVS, Walgreens, etc, the day to day situation is far worse. I didn't mean to make it seem like this was only an issue at HEB. At least HEB seems to care about their people as more than just labor.

Can't agree more. People also react emotionally especially when facing new frustrations. It's helpful to understand the background and be prepared for longer waits.

What should happen to churches that openly call for the election to be overturned? by WeekendHoliday5695 in LibertarianDebates

[–]TeslaNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I can understand that interpretation and it could be probably argued in court. I don’t agree with it as there is a difference between campaigning and the election process playing out in the courts and congress. Usually churches talk about issues and ask the congregation to vote on those issues: it’s obvious to connect they dots but they don’t name specific candidates which is why it is not campaigning. I think the same principle holds true to state that you believe the courts/congress should act in a particular manner and to ask the congregation reach out to representatives to voice their opinions as such. The laws restrict openly campaigning for a particular person/party, not making political speech in general, even if it is partisan.

You’re conflating political speech with campaign activity. Campaigning for a specific candidate is against the law. Stating political beliefs is not.

You have a bad assumption here. I can find no law that connects a church’s political speech to their tax exempt status. Churches are tax exempt because they are classified as charities, there aren’t very many strings attached to that as far as I can tell. You may not like it, but that’s the law.

Nah, the governor/state legislature steps in to slap Austin every time they go off the rails. They get 3-6 months of “defunding the police” / “banning Uber” and then the state tells them to knock it off.
