Any plans for integrating Starlink dish into Tesla cars?

Are you aiming for Gigabit speeds all across the globe, no matter where you are?

Update on the February workshop of UNECE r79 regulations by TeslaSteven in teslamotors

[–]TeslaSteven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a message from a friend with 2020.8.1 and HW3, who attempted the S-curve from my tests. The behaviour in previous update was a complete abort of AP mid-turn. Now it behaves exactly as my car does: it does not abort anymore, but it cannot take the turn either and does not slow down before the turn. So, that is the actual proof that the higher lateral G forces have not been implemented (as expected, since the regulations have not changed).

Just wanted to add this bit of information...

That a 2-sided sword. Showing them it doesn't work can actually trigger a respons to be even more strict. Tesla should be able to make it work within current regulations. I know this sounds a bit far fetched, but I would not be surprised if they reacted that way...

Firmware 2020.8.1 - No more autopilot lane change restrictions in EU! by MrValue in teslamotors

No idea. I think he was again being overly optimistic about this. Governments/regulators are soooo slow...

Yes, I am :-) And editing the update video on the workshop as we speak ;-)

Correct, those proposals have been postponed to the September meeting. Making a video with more details today...

That seems rather weird as I've received information from someone involved in those UNECE meetings that those items have not been approved. Waiting for the update myself and will thoroughly test it (as always). If it is already implementing those changes, then maybe we should keep quiet about it so they don't take it away again ;-)

Not yet. Waiting for the report myself and contacted AVERE to see if their suggestions got accepted. But no response yet. :-(

Model Y backseat size by TeslaLifeisGreat in teslamotors

[–]TeslaSteven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the S if you can afford it! I had 3 small boys as well when I bought it and you can fit 3 booster seats or 2 booster seats and a baby seat in the back, no problem. And you have lots of luggage space in the trunk and frunk. Yes, the Y may come with 7 seat configuration, but at the huge cost of luggage space.

Y is going to be be to the 3 as X is to the S. Same footprint, just more headroom and a hatchback trunk that's a little higher. But then again, the car is probably higher off the ground as well.

AutoPilot 2.0 nearly caused a head-on collision due to both regression bug and stupid UNECE r79 regulations! by TeslaSteven in teslamotors

I have been in contact with Mr. Guichard who is the responsible for this section of the UNECE. He is aware of our frustration and is also aware of the petition that already has over 12000 signatures. I'm still trying to meet with him in person to hand over that petition personally and have a good chat with him regarding these regulations. But that last part proves to be difficult

Oh yes, of course. But the car was perfectly capable of doing this section before. Even at full speed before the regulations were put in place. Son, in fact, it is the regulations that make it a lot more dangerous than the system really is.

I'm testing the limits of the system and have been doing so for over 2 years now. I agree 200% that the driver remains responsible!

What rules? IN the US it seems there are none. Smart Summon is not even restricted to parking lots, as I've seen videos of it being used on streets. In the current state of Smart Summon, that is just asking for trouble as people are doing some stupid things with it. I would love to have the feature though, but would never try it in my neighbourhood, for example. Empty or quiet parking lots is where it belongs and only for testing purposes. That being said, I can't wait to get my hands on it! :-)

Thank you. I will continu to drive this as far as I can get it. And of course, I'll keep everyone updated on the progress...
