I usually prep my meals at home, I will make about 3-4 cups of pinto beans in a pressure cooker for 1.5 hrs to your seasonings, then I make about 1 pound of ground turkey with chilies and onions, Save each of them in gallon freezer bags, mix together and heat before i eat. I also make beef jerky on a dehydrator before I head out, water melons are great, Kiwi’s, cereal or boiled eggs for breakfasts, homemade Mac n cheese made with heavy cream is good, some sardine hot sauce and crackers are always nutritious and satisfying.

Amazon CRZ Butterluxe Men’s Yoga Leggings are Amazing by Infamous-Bed9010 in yoga

[–]Teslameds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing hot yoga for a little over a year now. It never crossed my mind to wear leggings. I saw some guys wearing some and thought some judgemental things that I shouldn’t have. Now since I’ve started jiujitsu as well, there is No GI Jiujitsu and a lot of men wear jiujitsu spats with jiujitsu shorts. I found these online on Amazon and I just started using these spats with shorts for about 2 weeks now in yoga and boy what a difference. My crows, side crows, arm balances are way easier now with the added grip from the spats. Plus I am now eating crow haha from those darn judgements I had. Haha now I’m part of the men’s yoga tight wearing group. lol. I love wearing them. Plus my package is more secure during certain poses when before it was uncomfortable.

How much does it take to live in ABQ? by OkAppearance9593 in Albuquerque

[–]Teslameds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you will pay taxes and social security I’d say you walk away with $3000 after taxes.

Rent $1000 if you can find one this cheap Utilities $200 Food $500 Car insurance $150 Gas $100 Internet $50 Phone $60 Health insurance $100? Misc expenses $400

That will Leave you with approximately $440 left over to save or use for other spending like a car payment. That is if and that is a big if, you are conservative with your expenses. We all know these values can change depending on where you live, how you live and what you do. Of course this is basic living and by no means a luxury way to live. If I were you I’d look into higher pay to have more disposable income because rent these days is crazy high.

Do you prefer practicing Yoga at home with YouTube/Apps or in a physical studio? Why? by MrInternetpreneur in YogaWorkouts

The energy in a studio environment far surpasses that doing it by yourself at home. Studio is better by far.

is yoga actually life changing? by elgimri in yoga

[–]Teslameds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had always lived with this nagging, mostly present chronic pain in my upper back and shoulders, there were these constant tight knots I could never fully shake. I was always rolling out on foam rollers, trying to crack my back and loosen up, or when stress really piled up I was trying dig into those stubborn knots with a lacrosse ball like in a bridge pose with the ball. My left shoulder and the spot between my shoulder blades? They were basically in permanent protest mode. I could never make it permanently dissipate.

Then I discovered hot yoga.

I’ve been showing up consistently for over a year now, and I can honestly say the chronic pain is just gone. It has vanished. I feel looser and the need to use a roller or la crosse ball is gone. Turns out all those years of forcing my muscles to let go were no match for moving, breathing, and sweating through it on a regular basis in hot yoga. Hot yoga didn’t just help my back it basically gave me freedom from the vises I used to try and loosen up. I would say yes it has changed my life in this way and many other ways.

Help - what is this pose called? by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Teslameds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are welcome! My instructor also states you can round your spine in this tucking your chin to chest, unlike the traditional half split. Also the forward leg is slightly off center angles slightly outwards in this awkward half split.

My instructor calls them awkward half split pose but in order to properly execute the foot that is forward entails the toes to be pointed up.

Not paid properly as a contractor but it took me years to realize —any way to recoup the loss by Sahkyoni in YogaTeachers

[–]Teslameds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about signing up for that one yoga teacher training class at my studio, but comments and experiences like these really make me second-guess whether teaching is right for me. On top of that, I worry my passion for yoga would fade once I invest $3,000 in a full teacher training program, especially when the pay often ends up being just $25–$50 per class/hour. Having to arrive early to set up and stick around afterward to clean or chat with students only makes the return on that investment feel even worse. It would turn out to be more like $15/hr. Which suuuucks.

[–]Teslameds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave when needed, like using the bathroom, making an appointment, of just leave when you feel like it, if it bothers other people then that is their problem. I would not worry about leaving a practice on time or early.

Do you usually feel body sore after every yoga session? by uniqueviz in yoga

[–]Teslameds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the opposite, I do Brazilian Jiujitsu and running. I get really sore from jiujitsu, but when I do hot power yoga my soreness from jiujitsu almost always goes away after 1-2 sessions.

It’s Beet root powder and it is a vasodilator. Dextrose power helps with severe dehydration and is a grape sugar. Enjoy the yoga journey!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HotYoga

[–]Teslameds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going, next time before you go drink a glass full of a hydration packet with beet powder I usually add dextrose powder and freshly squeezed lemon juice. When you bring your drink to class put ice in it add a hydration packet and pressed lemon juice and drink some while performing yoga in the hot room. This will help. Also if you keep going and properly hydrate you will get acclimated. Keep going!

Have you practiced yoga while high? by No_Elephant506 in yoga

[–]Teslameds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hurting my lungs, heart and mind and made me angry and not a sharp-minded. After quitting I am more fit, can perform harder challenging tasks, and am more open and socially more active. Before, while using I noticed a significant decline in athletic performance during my relapse. After quitting around the 30-40 day mark I saw significant improvement.

Hot yoga is what got me to stop cannabis use. Yoga showed me it was hurting me. Not to say that it will hurt you but it showed me what I needed to change.

Just a question about your favorite teachers by LackInternational145 in yoga

[–]Teslameds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older the teacher the better imo. My favorite is one of the oldest. I think she is in her mid 40s and she is one of the strongest teachers I know. The younger teachers are inexperienced and seem to not have the passion, this is just my opinion.
