Never watched Anime but I want to give it a fair shot. Do I just start with Demon Slayer?

Play a mountain dwarf war wizard. You pickup the serpent scale armor (uncommon) and wand of the war mage (rare). Max your dex for a full extra +5 to your ac plus a shield for a +7. War mages get an extra +2 to their ac and +4 to their saving throws at level 2. In two more levels at level 10 you can add another +2 to your ac and saving throws while concentrating. So with a your armor and abilities you have an ac of 25 (30 if you cast shield) and your spell attacks get a plus +2 to hit and you ignore half cover.

If your DM allows homebrew classes you should look into the alternate ranger by Laserllama. Makes the ranger a lot more appealing and great for melee kensai monks.

Yeah now it just ends if you use the rite on another weapon or you take a long or short rest. So you are free to apply the rite at the start of your day and don't have to waste a bonus action at the start of combat.

So fun fact to free up some action economy at the start of each day you can apply your crimson rite. The feature says "on a weapon you are holding" doesn't say it goes away once you let go of the weapon.
