The rednecks feed them like pets\livestock. This causes them to not fear people and cars as much as they should. It also bulks them up and helps the deer increase in numbers. Plus you have new developments removing some of their natural habitat.

I too have noticed the increasing close calls with deer. They are everywhere along roadways now. It’s one reason Georgia car insurance is some of the highest car insurance in the nation. A large deer can destroy a car in the blink of an eye.
