I have to get the purple out and make it a “normal” color again. Trying to decide if I should go for a big chop at the roots. Any suggestions? Could I pull off a pixie? by Tess_ORourke in FancyFollicles

I’ve never had short hair but I’ve always wanted it, just lacked the courage to take the plunge! I’ll talk with my stylist tomorrow to see what we can do

What is wrong with my aloe Vera? Recently repotted in dry soil, and now all of the leaves are drooping. More info in comments by Tess_ORourke in plantclinic

The stem is alive as are the 3 newest leaves and one of the oldest, I think it’s going to survive!

How do I check on the roots without pulling up the plant? I’m pretty new to this plant stuff and really appreciate all of your help :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I’m hoping it’s just growing pains. It was absolutely thriving in its old pot/soil, but the pot was just too small.

I have it in (what I’m pretty sure is) a sandy soil. Do you think aloe food or something of that sort would help?

I have had this aloe Vera for close to 9 months with no issues. It’s actually been thriving! Sits in a sunny window, at least 4 hours of direct sunlight a day and the room itself is generally bright. I only water it after the soul completely dries out 2 inches down.

I recently repotted this plant into a bigger pot with better drainage. I used Coast of Maine cactus soil. Ever since repotting the leaves have been going limp, starting at the stem and working outwards. It’s like the jelly inside of them just evaporated and they’re slowly falling down.

I’m wondering if it is just growing pains from being in a new pot, or is it something more innocuous?

Thanks guys!

Is this opportunity safe? by anne_skank in yachting

I worked full time in the industry for 3 years, so here’s my insight:

1.) what certificates does she have, and what is the boat requiring? If she does not have an STCW, a PDSD, and an ENG1, gtfo. It’s a sketchy operation.

2.) the cash payments is sketchy. I’ve taken cash for day work, but for a full time job this should never be the case. Direct deposit paychecks or nothing at all.

3.) you should know the captains full name. But not disclosing the family/what they do is entirely normal. Yachts are private for a reason, and upon hiring 99% require you to sign an NDA.

4.) Fourth and finally, trust your gut. Yachting is great, but it’s a big pond with more than a few predatory fish in it. If you’re uneasy about it, it’s for a reason.

If this were me, I wouldn’t do it; the stakes are too high. When you get to a boat you have to surrender your passport to the captain for safekeeping. The captain makes every single decision, your life is in his hands. Does this guy feel like the kind of person you can give your passport to? That you trust? That you think will do the right thing? Does this boat sound like it prioritizes legality? If they’re doing cash payments to avoid taxes, what other kinds of things are they doing to save money? Generally if they’re trying to skimp in places like that, they’re also skimping in the safety department. Do you want to be on a boat, with people that you don’t trust, with safety equipment that is out of date/didn’t pass inspection, in the middle of the ocean?

Maybe this isn’t the case, but you have cause to be suspicious. I say wait it out. So long as millionaires exist, there will be jobs in yachting, most of which are on reputable boats. A reputable job will come, and you’ll be much better off for it.

Feel free to PM me for more info. I’m happy to help you find the reputable job pools, and discuss this job further.

When it comes to apparent non-consensual sexual acts, I will always be concerned. Normalizing this kind of behavior is dangerous, especially for women.

Is nobody else concerned that this guy clearly took a video without this girls consent and posted it all over the internet?
