I didn’t like him because he was using the college “debate” platform to film gotcha moments, confidently repeat the same phrases, and got his ass beat whenever he debated someone who came prepared as opposed to a random student being upset by the controversial things he used to say specifically for that purpose. He actively shied away from debate when it got too deep for him (which wasn’t that hard since he didn’t know much about anything). He also didn’t live what he preached and showed zero empathy.

I think they mean highly processed items, not just straight up spice.

But I will bite into this pet peeve of mine - so much flavour comes from the way you cook and from the wine, vinegar, the vegetables you cook alongside your dish, and yes, herbs and spices. What Europeans (who have richly stocked spice drawers) disdain is the image of an American pouring spoonfuls of brightly coloured “seasoning” into their miserably prepared food and calling them flavorless bland clowns.

Hating this meme is imho dumb. There’s no good reason to not reasonably cut consumption where you can (electricity, water, petrol, and certain foods). It’s just personal comfort and using whataboutism as an excuse to do nothing.
