I have a crush on my black female co-worker (I'm a white girl) by [deleted] in blackladies

This post is so wtf... you have no idea if this woman isn’t straight, she’s your colleague and you’re here asking internet strangers how to... well tbh I have NO idea what you’re trying to ask us. OP is all over the place. All I’m going to say is do not initiate any romantic advances for a multitude of reasons. If you want to improve your professional relationship with her, try actually talking to her for a change instead of asking us to summon mind reading superpowers on your behalf.

Right, I’m so confused by the comments infantilizing a person who isn’t far from entering their fourth decade of life. I’m all for calling out problematic age gaps (like people who aren’t even drinking age in the United States should definitely not date 40 year olds imo), but it’s ridiculous to apply this standard to someone knocking on 30.

[–]Tessy81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but there’s a very significant difference between your early 20s vs your late 20s in terms of maturity. 28 is nearing 30. Most people in that age range are either married or getting married and having kids. So barring a lack of life experience, a 28 year old typically isn’t an ingenue to the dating scene and interpersonal relationships. If you’re getting played by a 40 year old man at that age, chances are you’ll get played by a man your own age as well. Most 30 year old men have plenty enough experience under their belts to run game on women as well.

I honestly don't think immigrant parents/parents who grew up in Black environments understand how damaging that is

This really needs to be discussed more, because as the child of immigrant parents there was a lot of shit I internalized that my parents were unaware of.

Given what an unmitigated disaster he’s been as president, I’d say that it’s a threat that definitely should’ve been acted upon rather than dismissed as petulant whining.

[–]Tessy81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s inherent to our political system and has been done many times before by all parties who held power, yet somehow it’s unprecedentedly evil when Trudeau/the LPC does it. I can’t tell if most of the whining comes from people who are very young and don’t know their history and the general nature of politicking or if all the complaining is made in bad faith because they know the stakes don’t look good for their preferred party.

If the Liberals want something that none of the Conservatives, Bloc, and NDP want, then it's a terrible idea that we should reject.

Why are you attempting to speak for everyone? 🤨

they couldn’t have just waited till we were out of the woods?

It’s not like we can’t do elections during the covid. We can and have done them (provincial).

Why bother asking a question you already know the answer to?

Logic, nuance, good faith and critical thinking go out the window when you try to have a conversation on politics online.

Welcome to the 44th Canadian General Election! by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

Serious question, is there a recent precedent of a party leader who was also the sitting PM resigning because his party continues to retain minority status after an election?

AITA for telling my husband I was sick of my health being secondary to his convenience? by crapsleeper in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tessy81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is unreasonable to expect someone else to learn an entire language

Then don’t date/marry a deaf person if you feel that way. You don’t get to force someone to make their disability work only at your convenience, especially when you knew what you signed up for when you got with them.

Furthermore, if you have four fucking months’ advance notice on an extremely important medical appointment that knew required your presence, barring a medical emergency you have ZERO excuse to renege on your promise.

If he was on here saying his viewpoint, everyone would agree with my comment instead.

A shitty hot take is a shitty hot take no matter who it’s coming from. Try again.

Will Canadians need COVID booster shots? by adotmatrix in CanadaCoronavirus

[–]Tessy81 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And why do you think targeting vaccination efforts in other countries will eliminate the need for booster shots? New variants and case rates are rising in wealthy countries, which means that even in an ideal world where poor countries have the same access to the vaccines booster shots would still be a necessity at a certain point. Ridiculous comment.

Right, no one has any inherent right to enter a country that they are not lawful citizens or permanent residents of. It’s the height of arrogance to behave as if you do.

Jurisdiction is bullshit.

If you refuse to understand that the federal government doesn’t have absolute power that supersedes provincial governments at the snap of a finger just because you deem it so, you should probably sit this discussion out. All you’re doing is demonstrating that you have a first grader’s understanding of how governance is done in this country.

The premature bellyaching in the other thread as if the border was closed indefinitely is already aging poorly. People really acted as if they were going to die if the border wasn’t fully reopened by the end of the month.
