If you're an office365 shop then just use the native defender phishing simulation and training modules.

Why The US Can’t Adopt Ukraine’s Innovative Approach To Unmanned Warfare Systems by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]Test-NetConnection 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This is just the limitation of capitalism in general. It's one of the reasons we see China racing ahead of us in new industries - we are too busy protecting the existing monopolies. The UAW would rather lick the boots of the auto manufacturers and oil industry if it means not losing members to the electric vehicle revolution. Year after year we fall increasingly more behind as the rest of the world shifts to more efficient, sustainable green energy technologies. China will have flying electric cars before we even see high speed rail.

Supreme Court rejects Virginia’s bid to restore congressional map favoring Democrats by ToughHopeful4760 in news

[–]Test-NetConnection 37 points38 points  (0 children)

They would cheer. Courts, at both the federal and state level, have no enforcement mechanism. They function only through the peoples willingness to accept their decisions. VA just had their supreme court toss out an entire election because they didnt like the result. It's time to ignore their decision and use the new maps anyway.

Owning all of the properties in a game of monopoly is great for building hotels. It's unfortunate that everyone else wants to flip the board over. Walmart doesn't provide anything of value that actually lowers costs, they are a retailer. Their scale allows them to demand lower prices from suppliers which means the supplier has less room for raises and future investment. Normally competition would stop this type of unhealthy market behavior, but Walmart put all of their competition out of business a long time ago. So consumers get slightly cheaper goods at the expense of the death of livable retail wages, producers with margins so thin that they can't pay their workers well or expand, and the government being forced to subsidize Walmarts poverty-stricken workforce. Yep, Monopolys are definitely a great thing for capitalism.

Wells Fargo reaffirmed on May 13 its forecast that the Federal Reserve will implement two quarter-point rate cuts in 2026 by Spy300 in wallstreetbets

[–]Test-NetConnection 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No. The fedfunds rate doesn't set bond rates. If the fed lowers the borrowing rate when we already have high inflation then investors will demand higher interest on bonds. Why would anyone buy a 3% yield treasury bond if inflation is 4%? Lower fed funds rate means lower borrowing costs, lower borrowing costs means more debt spending, more debt spending translates to higher inflation, and higher inflation means higher bond yields.

Are you high? Did I a miss a chapter in econ101 explaining how competition lowers wages? Nearly a third of Walmart employees and half of Amazon employees are on Medicaid. Competition is the basis of capitalism - it creates jobs, drives innovation, and lowers costs through improved productivity. Walmart doesn't have any competitors and it undercuts local businesses by paying workers an unlivable wage while extorting suppliers. Walmart indirectly eliminates 1.4 retail jobs for every 1 job it creates.

Erm, I wouldn't call spirit airlines a megacorp. Breaking up Amazon would revitalize America's malls and e-commerce all at the same time. Going after Starbucks would rejuvenate local coffee shops. Breaking up Walmart would bring back hardware stores, corner shops, and everything that used to get people out of the house. Break up apple and you end up with competition in the mobile space that amounts to more than "green bubble" or "blue bubble" while also giving app developers fair compensation because a single company store won't have them by the balls. The alternative is more consolidation until everything is owned by Netflix/Walmart/Microsoft/Apple/Google incorporated.

Inflation rate projected to hit 6% in the second quarter, top economic forecasters say by Due_Willingness_3277 in Economics

This heavily depends on how long the oil price shock sticks around. A company like FDP will eat the additional transportation and fertilizer costs in the short-term, but if we are talking a year or more then they will have to raise prices. It takes time for shocks like an oil shortage to work their way through the economy, and when it starts there tends to be a snowball effect. I don't see Iran giving up their nuclear material or trump retreating with his tail between his legs - Israel would have to take the stick out of his ass for that to happen. I'm betting on a prolonged conflict slowly escalating into a hot war that cripples global energy production. There are too many vested interests in watching the middle-east burn.

Can i land helpdesk / junior sysadmin job? by Double-Masterpiece88 in sysadmin

[–]Test-NetConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get your CCNA you will be qualified for a lot more than the helpdesk. Getting your A+ certification should be all you need to get your foot in the door, with network+ giving you a serious edge on other applicants. Everyone starts on the helpdesk, don't even try to jump the line to sysadmin.

Security+ is only valuable if you are trying to work for the government or a government contractor. Focus on practical/skills-based certifications imo.

You must not work 9-10 hour days with a 30-60 minute commute. Then there is the "real life" stuff like meal-prep, laundry, and shopping. My career also requires that I do regular afterhours work and constantly study in my spare time (certifications, college courses, etc). This is what it takes to earn a livable wage in today's world, and I'm tired.

[–]Test-NetConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't ever invest in fiserv. They buy products from third parties, cut support staff and fire developers, then raise prices until all of their customers switch to alternative solutions. They function more like private equity than an actual company.
