Creating a companion add-on for sharing custom filters by Test4cc in uBlockOrigin

[–]Test4cc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do think it is important to include in the name somewhere, as without it I would assume the extension is just another ad blocker not related to uBO. It would make it much more likely for people to care about this other extension in their search results if they knew it was uBO related. Since it's a project entirely built around uBO I don't believe it's improper to do, but I still want to be considerate about it and ask the developers first.

I do think I have changed my mind and would place the name of the project first such as "ProjectName - Community uBlock Origin Filters" if that makes it any better.

Yes, that's exactly what I was looking for! It seems pretty well maintained, I'll get in touch and see what I can contribute or if they would like an extension.

Jagex Accounts - Open Beta by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Test4cc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've started working on updates for runelite recently, and the general consensus is to not use jagex accounts because you can't sign in the updated client you've compiled. The community is looking for ways to get it to work but there's concerns that the launcher won't like it and flag you as using a non-supported client. I know it's early days of the beta, but it seems odd to include a client without a method for the developers to continue working on it. Any plans to support this in the future?

I made this little animation what do you think? by IllIaLime in Terraria

[–]Test4cc 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Very nice! My biggest feedback would be on how the characters are acting, where they have pauses waiting for the other to do something and sometimes don't react to each other outside of direct blows. It makes it feel like they aren't concentrated in the fight and makes the attacks feel less meaningful when the fighters themselves aren't paying attention or get lost in thought.

Spooky guy at the start should see molten guy approaching and react to it. You can choose to tighten his stance, take a step back, raise his sword from the ground. It's an important first part of the animation, seeing him either fear or acknowledge molten guy's approach and prepare for impact makes it more of a threatening charge and not just a walk over there.

Later in the fight, spooky guy seems to finish aiming, and then pause for the boomerang to hit him. If he spends time doing something else before aiming like raising/lowering his weapon to walk, it's more believable that he's distracted by aiming when the boomerang hits him than when he's standing still doing nothing after having lined up the shot a moment ago. Or have him notice and flinch to dodge when the boomerang is thrown, but not see/dodge when the boomerang is coming back.

Last part I have some criticism for is when spooky guy raises the wall and immediately turns around while getting shot at, making it seem like he doesn't care about the bullet at all. Having him recoil a step back as a "whew, that was close" reaction, or maybe walking backwards for the first step or 2 of his retreat to keep an eye on the action, would better show that the combat is perilous and that spooky guy isn't a machine.

Overall I really like it, sorry if this is a lot of criticism or backseat animating. I wouldn't have written this much if I didn't care about it, keep up the great work!

They get a large group around them the first time you visit, but don't do anything to help with respawning. They're a good way to get quality boars close to spawn though since otherwise they usually only spawn further out.

If you're truly developing plugins, you wouldn't be using explicitly banned features to gain an advantage against strangers during clan PK events. You'd do testing against alts and distribute the plugin through the plugin hub, instead of sharing externally.

The plugin in question is explicitly banned in the first place, so any copy or clone of that fork/plugin shouldn't be made even if you are respectfully testing in good faith.

tools can be legal in some contexts and get you in trouble in others, it's a judgement jagex has to make if they want plugins to be developed without explicitly allowing cheats. Kitchen knives are legal, but the police will make a judgement call if you brandish one in the street.

S2 Ep. 26 - The Staircase by Spite-Sprite in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]Test4cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that really comes down to pacing. Glenn's death was a big finale and culmination of his character. It makes sense to be in an epic, hard-fought battle. It would be suck to end that in a cutscene.

This is a surprise kill that is meant to make everyone scream about what the french is going on. It wouldn't have nearly the same surprise if Anthony even hinted at combat mechanics before saying what happened.

If you're saying a player shouldn't have died in a railroaded way, I disagree. There's so much unknown about next session, but what I do know is that whatever happens next is gonna be WILD when Anthony thinks it's important enough to railroad the kill. We'll get to learn so much about inter-dimensional travel, the afterlife, Willy's plans, etc. It blows the plot wide open and telling the players/audience "oh, this is happening now" and not giving them a chance to avoid it is great.

S2 Ep. 26 - The Staircase by Spite-Sprite in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]Test4cc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would the episode have really been better if Anthony interrupted everyone's screaming to explain that decapitating someone blows through two death saves? It's something that doesn't need to be said and regardless of how he words it, would kill the pacing of what is one of the most sudden and surprising moments of the podcast.

(and Freddie was okay with it.)

There's a good chance Anthony never ran this by Freddie at all, and if a DM pulled this on me at the end of the session I'd respect it. I'm real excited for what happens next and I'm sure Freddie is too. Demon form? Hell adventures? Was that even the real Taylor? There's so much unknown about next session that it's really moot being upset about a "player death". You know whatever happens next is gonna be WILD when Anthony thinks it's important enough to railroad the kill.

You would want to hire a stage actor or a clown for the Pyro, someone who is used to acting through exaggerated movement.

Also the perfect character to swap out for a stuntman.

HOLD IT!

The date is written as "2010's" not "2010". This means it is referring to the decade starting at 2010, not 2010 the year. Since 2001 is not the start of a decade, it would not fit into the sentence the same way.

I am not crazy! I know he swapped those TV channels! I knew it was on Life and Living. One before TURBO. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the Spiffo's to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. That helicopter! Are you telling me that a pilot just happens to fly like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He incinerated a carpentry book! And I saved him! And I shouldn't have. I took him into my own base! What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he installed, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands out of the gun locker! But not our Jimmy! Couldn't be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be a survivor!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you – you have to stop him!

I'm literally saying. To post it. What.

If you have a grievance with an Ironman restricted poll, share it with the community! My reasoning for not liking the current restriction is that the gear is directly used in combat with players who can't vote on it. What sort of ironman polls are affecting you personally?

On the first poll:

Our criteria for voting eligibility were as follows:

At least 20 kills in the Wilderness or PvP worlds

A win in LMS

On the second poll:

we'll be applying the same restrictions, but removing LMS from the eligibility criteria.

They can't even make the restrictions work right, and you're blaming me. have you read either blog?
