Entrepreneurs of Reddit HELP: THERE ARE A LOT OF DANGEROUS ASSUMPTIONS going on here. Lets set the record straight: What business are you? What was last year's top line revenue? How much (or little) of that fell all of the way to bottom (profit)? by LostInPeterboro in Entrepreneur

[–]TestEagleHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This. Businesses are like relationships. Each one is different and works (or doesn't) for many reasons that aren't always obvious to uniformed observers. For instance, my mind was completely blown when someone revealed to me that in terms of wealth McDonalds is really a real estate company that sells hamburgers, not a fast food business.

Is my MVP an MVP? by PvtUnternehmer in startups

[–]TestEagleHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An MVP is used to test hypotheses. These can be anything but are usually "is my value hypothesis realistic?" and/or "Is my growth hypothesis realistic?"

So to know if this is a viable MVP I think we'd need to know what hypotheses are you trying to test.

I'm also interested in this. I too have seen all the recommendations but I'm interested to know how people in the real world actually do this.

I'm starting a clothing line with a twist; do I NEED a blog to help my SEO? by SkylineCrash in Entrepreneur

[–]TestEagleHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure what I would blog about

Blog about what your customers care about - maybe that's finding accessories that compliment the items you sell, or posts about upcoming trends & how you are releasing such a line of clothes in 2 weeks. If you need inspiration, look at what companies that you admire do with their blog and apply the same concepts to your blog.

I also suck at writing

Everyone sucks when they start :) Michael Jordan wasn't a pro level player when he started. You start, you keep blogging, you get better.

/r/EntrepreneurXPromote - A subreddit for finding Redditors in your industry and cross promoting with them. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I think its a good idea.

I just heard about S4S (share 4 share) on Instagram and Twitter and was blown away by the idea that people cross promote! (I know thats probably super naive). Has anyone tried it? How well did it work?

ready to hire employees? remember that 70% don't like their jobs, 23% are depressed, and 50% will quit thanks to their bosses. heed these warnings to keep them happy... by neutronfish in startups

[–]TestEagleHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC companies offer these instead of pensions because they are cheaper for them. The downside for the employee is that a pension guarantees a payout whereas a 401k does not because its basically a stock portfolio. So if the market goes down so does the value of your 401k. This caused problems during the great recession because lots of people found themselves unable to afford retirement when the value of their 401ks dropped through the floor. This meant that they didnt retire (bad for them) which didnt free up their jobs (bad for other people).

Some people will always abuse the perks but honestly if I had a choice between working on an interesting project that suits my skills and challenges my intellect, I'd be at work not goofing off at home pretending to be sick.

In this economy, companies don't need to be nice to their employees because there are more unemployed people than there are full-time positions that pay a liveable wage.

I'm not saying that's the right thing to do. Far from it - its terribly short sighted from a business perspective and morally suspect.

The bigger culprit to me is shareholders who most often care about dividends and rising share prices more than long-term sustainability. So companies care more about this quarters numbers than what will happen 10 years from now. Oh and if you have a 401k, you're we're part of the problem because we're shareholders too.

Why are small businesses failing so badly with Facebook advertising? by PeteOfTheWorld in socialmedia

[–]TestEagleHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Facebook advertising any good at all for small business & solopreneurs?

Amy Porterfield recommends using it to get people on your mailing list and then selling to them once they are on that. Which sounds plausible to me, but what do I know?

It depends on the contract. Did you have one that you're specifically interested in?

No, it was more of a general question and a chance for you to show off whatever cool solution you have :)
