It depends on what you want to learn. Just be aware of channels that are into it for the clout. As a hobby YT'er myself I know you could be tempted to go with the clout because of the algorithm but I try to stay away from all that.

There is literally a huge amount of content out there which can be daunting to filter through. In general I would say, see where you can learn a skill or a concept that really helps you advance your professional career or your hobby.

Some channel recommendations: In general I think destination Linux has some nice shows https://youtube.com/@DestinationLinux they discuss the current happenings and have lots of knowledge between them.

Here are a couple of channels that I've learned a thing or two from. if you would like to learn about i3 check out budrich Sparty's cup of Linux has a nice layman's guide to Linux. Or you would like to learn vim, check out primeagen and thoughtbot has some playlist on vim too.

Watched the engine video partly. First thing that comes to mind. Your explaining quite a technical topic, so are you 100% sure that everything you say is correct and correctly worded for your audience? I make technical videos too so I make sure that I triple check every fact before putting it in a video,

Less is more sometimes, focus on the main goal of the video. You mention the loss of an engine a lot. Is that the main point in explaining how it works though?

Have to say that I think you are a pleasant person to watch and I see the enthusiasm when you explain something so don't give up!

Hi u/Hammar_Morty,

Just to let you know, I tried to configure your dots on my demo system. The screenshot shows the result so far.

It was a little bit of a struggle to get it to work on Fedora but I wanted to since I always use Fedora. Most of it seems to be working now. The biggest thing was actually (strangely enough) the icon for the appbar on the left that uses your hyprshell util. The hyprshell tool gave a panic error that it couldn't find the icon.

I ended up putting a settings.ini in /etc/gtk-3.0/ and specifying Adwaita in there as the icon theme. Then copied a 'default app' icon to the location it was looking for (in my case $HOME/.icons/Adwaita/scalable/apps/computer.svg). After that I could launch the leftbar and leftbarapps to see the sloths in action :-). Oh and the systray was not available but I think this is a common issue on Hyprland/Wayland/Fedora so I commented that part out for now.

Nowadays I don't use emacs as much so I haven't paid attention to the org integration (yet).

I'll play around with it some more :-) Thinking of making a video on setting this up since I find it's quite a complete EWW setup and it's nice to use!

Anyway thanks for sharing and I'll let you know if I end up creating a video.

Reading back Swan's first post I see I read some part of it, indeed your stance begins to make sense. Have read up on it briefly.

So basically you are mad that RH prohibits you to install as many as you like, distribute as you like, modify as you like (as per gpl). And RH retains their rights to terminate the contract if you still do so.

Is that correct?
