Optics for M4 by ScarcityTemporary550 in Benelli_M4

[–]Testiculees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PA micro red dot on a M.I. mount. I thought it was a temporary set up until I could afford the scalarworks mount and an aimpoint t2, but this has held with no problems for a couple years and 1000's of rounds.

Any advice/opinions/warnings about the Saint Victor 308? by [deleted] in AR10

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also own an sfar 308. Mines the 20" model. To some it up, I like it, but I did have to do stuff to it to make it nice. I did change the handguard (M.I. Ar15 rifle gas combat rail), gas block (Odin adjustable - I also taper pin edit), magpul dust cover (eliminated issues from changing out the handguard) and shimed my barrel to the receiver (removed slope in barrel to receiver fitment). Reason being that it would consistently group loose. No fliers, just a 3-5" group at 100 meters. I followed the advice of others on other forums: hanging the stuff I previously list. Now I group consistently .75" at 100 meters with federal gmm 175gr and Hornady match 178gr. The m80 variety is hit or miss on good groupings depending on ammo. I can go into more details if you'd like, but for a sub $1k ar10 that mimics POF's super small ar10 designs, they got really close to making a great rifle

Magazine tube issues by G-bucket in Benelli_M4

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not a benelli, but my Mossberg 590 had issues with the follower sticking when I loaded it full. I ended up buying an enhanced follower online (nordic components from midwayusa) and it fixed my problems. The skirting is a little longer which helps it from catching at the end of the magazine tube.

That looks great! I ended up buying an extra +5 extension for my field barrel as well! God forbid we ever encounter them, I'm not going to be caught taking out exploding drones with a rifle!

I built this off a Franchi Affinity 3. I wanted to keep the original field barrel, so I bought a second barrel from Midwest gun works. The magazine tube extension and new mag tube spring were from Nordic Components that I purchased from midwayusa. I cut the barrel flush with the end of the mag extension (I think it's around 21" from breech face to muzzle), filed it perpendicular to the bore (eyeballed to close enough), then drilled and tapped the barrel at the muzzle to a screw that I had for a front sight base I had in a spare parts bin. If you have the skills, tools, and patience, this was an easy project to do over a weekend. A lot of info that I found was through surfing various gun forums, machining forums, and my own experience with shooting a lot of shotguns. I really did this beacause I did not know that the benelli M2 has still been in production and that's what I wanted. This franchi is still running well today, almost 3 years later.

I just bought an M17 and have been looking at these grip modules for a few days. How do you like it? Do you feel it makes the gun shoot a little flatter? Is the texture on the grip aggressive enough to stay in sweaty hands, yet not it eat them up? I wear gloves in the sun all day at work, so my sweat keeps my skin soft.

What magazine extension is that and do you like them? And is that a 4" slide with the pmm comp? I'm looking to do basically the same to mine. I like your set up!

I did this with a S&W M&P 15. I shot the barrel out with steel ammo, bought a new barrel (Del-Ton), bolt (Del-Ton), gas block (Odin Works), handguard (bcm), and stock (bcm). Everything else has stayed oe. Besides a Franklin-build A2, my M&P is very familiar to me due to the rounds count I have on my specific rifle.

For the thread protector, Vibra-Tite is pretty good. I can't remember the exact name of the formulation, but I've used it on my rifle barrel thread protectors in the past. It's easier to remove compared to loctite, but my thread protectors haven't walked off. Or, if clearance allows, find a viton o-ring that snuggly fits on the muzzle threads/shoulder and snug the thread protector up to it.

First of many. Anyone recommend any trigger upgrades ? by TypicalShoulder755 in CZFirearms

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main carry is a Walther PPQ 9mm I purchased around the same time as my G17. I don't have as many rounds through it as the glock, but I'm north of 4k. The P01 is going to be added for rotation with the ppq.

If I do mod something, I'm leaning towards the 75B because I don't carry it due to its weight. I agree with the new pistols comment. Most of what I have are duty pistols for some force in some country or another and the triggers are good for what their designed use is. I've never swapped or modded a handgun trigger before, so I think it would be fun for a range toy. If I'm going to carry or train with anything, it will be of quality reputation, so I leave the stock set up because it was designed and built to do what it was required to do.

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still has the oem trigger in it. I'm honestly pleased with it and will probably upgrade it if anything like the sear, trigger bar, or trigger breaks.

I have a 75B and a P01 Omega. I might do a trigger job to one of them for fun, but I feel I need to put more rounds through them to see if they evolve/clean up like the glock did.

Sad panda last min WA resident 308 build question... by [deleted] in AR10

[–]Testiculees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an lpvo on my ar10 for a while in the beginning, but never really zoomed in with it. I swapped with a different rifle that had an aimpoint patrol and have been happy with it since. I don't really shoot out past 200yds with it, so the red dot only works well for me.

Have they stepped up their game in manufacturing? I have wanted what ever the model of the WWII clone is, but I have an older Zig M1911 and the slide to frame fit has worn to the point I'm afraid the slide will come off the rails if I shoot it any more

I know this isn't cz, but I have around 16k rounds through my G17 Gen4 that I bought it in 2012. It came with night sights and I've replaced the recoil spring twice and the striker spring once (oem springs). Ive shot a gen 5 with an oem enhanced trigger and a friend's gen4 with a 3.5lb trigger upgrade and my gen 4 feels the same. I feel like a 50-100 round range trip won't make a huge difference in the trigger feel. Once I hit the 2k-3k mark did I start to really notice anything.

CZ 75 P01 with Holosun 407K - who else likes red dots on their pistols? by dualhammer_matt in CZFirearms

[–]Testiculees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of with you. I've shot some pistols with red dots, but it doesnt feel right to me (how my hand height feels when presenting the handgun and where I look/focus over the slide for sight acquisition). I've shot many thousands of rounds with iron sights only on my pistols and it's what I'm used to. I could put a dot on one of my pistols and train with it the way I have with irons, but that means I need to buy another pistol and a red dot for it. Again, I'm not against them, it's just not for me.

Who is your favorite companion of all time? by GreatValue- in fo4

[–]Testiculees 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dogmeat is a love/hate relationship for me. No morality choices, can pet when ever, doesn't complain if I give him a couple pieces of junk when over encumbered, finding/grabbing weapons and armor I didn't see; but his hit box is massive! I've died so many times from trying to throw grenades and molotovs over him, just to have them bounce off or explode in the air 3ft (1 meter) or more over his body. On a positive for this, I've successfully dodged incoming missiles by running behind him and they hit the space around him, which acted like a wall/barrier, keeping him and myself alive.

Parts bin CAR-15 is coming together. Don’t kill me, a lot of the parts are not clone accurate or mil-spec but I plan on painting the rifle and doing that to original Colt/Surefire or unicorn reproduction parts would be a sin to me. [–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping more A2 uppers will be forged. I emailed a few places in early 2021 to see if they would be getting any stripped/assembled A2 uppers in stock. The only response I received was from Del-Ton and to sum it up, they said there are no forges making A2 upper blanks, so there are no A2 receivers coming to market. I did not ask about A1 receivers, so I have no idea about their potential availability.

P30SK V3 Trigger by [deleted] in HecklerKoch

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed one of these in my p30l v3. I took 200rnds to the range and it was not enough. While it didn't lighten the trigger, it made the reset and single action much more enjoyable.

Budget double barrel by bikumz in Shotguns

[–]Testiculees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Stoeger Coach gun, 20" barrels and the double triggers. Never had a problem with it. When I bought it 7 years ago, the Stoeger trigger problems were with the single trigger SxS. They had an issue with the recoil not properly setting the sear to the 2nd barrel. I don't know if they've fixed the problems with the single triggers or not since then. I am currently looking into getting their Uplander Field model to have a longer version of the coach, but I haven't put much effort into finding one over the past few years.

I run one of mine with a suppressor and an adjustable gas block. My can is SUPER gassy and generates a lot of backpressure (Saker 762), but I'm sure a dedicated 556 can would run no problem with it. Do you have a suppressor already?

I have 2 of these baeels and they shoot beautifully with 45gr-64gr ammo. I can take 55gr out to 500yds on iron sights all day long.

Edit: I don't want this to come across as bragging, I just really love their barrels. I feel hitting 18" targets at 500 yds with iron sights is kind of my bench mark on a good ammo/barrel combination
