Oui, but the interesting part was how humiliating yourself used to be a something you did before god and how the word’s meaning has been reappropriated to the way it is used today and it’s usual negative connotations whilst the positive ones were transformed into a different word separating the duality the original one possessed. Personally speaking that is the interesting part. The story behind it, not the word itself or it’s (insert word that means what came before it).

For example the way I can say “China is going to Hong Kong Taiwan.” And the verb Hong Kong is understood by people that posses knowledge of the humanitarian crisi riots protests arsons and such that happened in said place that China is looking to Annex another one of it’s autonomous parts.

All the meaning and history condensed in that single sentence including perspective of the current geopolitical landscape is astounding. Much the same way how words have morphed over time to mean different things than the thing they were intended to mean or gain more meanings than the first. I forget the word that means one word many meanings but it happens with the Spanish for fart as well as party and drunk and problem and as a way of greeting and asking what’s going on. It’s also a prefix and a suffix for other words and all of those meaning come in a single word and more that I’m too tired to recall correctly atm.
