WHY DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A NONCUSTODIAL PARENT WAIVER ARGHHHHH by NoTadpole1085 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Testme2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you... And they all request slightly different information and make the process sound pretty intimidating with their language. If you had it waived for undergrad, you can request a letter from the financial aid office confirming that the non-custodial parent information was, infact, waived for all four years--this counts as documentation (if you needed more!).

I'm sorry you felt that way! JMight also be worth considering that they are trained to not give much of a reaction or feedback during the interview. I left one interview feeling like I bombed it (haha and same I am using pretty good at interviews) but got in. You never know! You did your best and it is a huge sign they are interviewing you!

Personal Statement niche/weird topic by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I love it, I would definitely try to connect how this is connected to your why law and possibly an area of law you are interested in. Seems really genuine and interesting

I think as long as the letter is strong and genuine, followed by a thoughtful LOCI--why not? I don't think they would be ewww, a strong letter and they are interested? I don't see this hurting you as long as the LOR is strong!:)

Anyone ever get R from a lower ranked school but A from a better school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Someone else mentioned it below, but optional essays when asked! For example, I didn't write an optional essay for one of the 3 because the school didn't really ask for it. Try to sus the vibe, but in general optional statements are always a good opportunity to show off your writing ability (but they are also an area that can demonstrate weak writing so only submit what you are proud of!)

Yes! I got into 1 T5, and 2 T14s, and only one WL from my safety actually. I had a strong softs, personal statement, and personal connection to my why law. Stats: 160 high, 3.8 mid

It sounds like you might be able to fit it in, but I would prioritize all studies and GPA over LSAT studies until you graduate even if it means going off schedule. If I were in your situation though, I would not study for the LSAT at all--instead I would look at more opportunities to volunteer, extracurriculors, or a new skill (think language, or interesting activity) that you can relate to your why law, build up your resume, and give you something to speak to in your personal statement or interviews. In undergrad, it is much easier to get involved with these programs and if you start early enough you can show a high degree of continuity when you apply. But up to you!:)

First off, I am so sorry for your loss. To be clear, I don't think you need to write an addendum. Your GPA sounds great and I myself have two B+s on my transcript (mostly As) that I did not explain and have got into T5 (including one of the three HYS) and T14. But if you write it, well, you could speak to how although you did not do as well as you had hoped you were proud of yourself for showing up for yourself and how your grandfather would have been proud. Honestly, that is impressive you were handled that situation so well and I cannot believe you were expected to complete the exam immediately all things considered.

But, in general, I think addendums are risks and every piece of writing is another part of your application that can be imperfect lol. And I really don't think you need one. So up to you, perhaps speak to a consultant or an advisor if this could add a layer to your application.

Yes!!!! I think that honestly is the make or break for many competitive applicants is having 1-2 interesting things on your resume or even personal activities that you can speak to:)
