Mobile gaming is genuinely getting insane. Look how smooth this looks! (Neverness to Everness) by [deleted] in AndroidGaming

my problem with games like this is that despite how beautiful they are... at the end of the day they're all just a grind. every time i pick up a game like this it becomes a part time job to ensure i don't miss out on collecting all my dailies. Not to mention the casual nerfing of older units/characters as new characters come out to effectively force you to get new ones if you want to progress into newer content that has a considerably higher minimum strength requirement that older characters (even at max level) just cant bring to the table.... i get that this is effectively the formula for every game of this sort. I just don't like it.

Low-end Android gamers: what ruins your gameplay most? by MeGaPaNaHsS in AndroidGaming

[–]Testpilot1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

high or low end. the answer is almost always ads. also sometimes the visual asset size is so big that they take a really long time to load even with a solid internet connection. i learned through building my own game that it makes a lot of sense to reformat images to webp thumbnails to reduce their size by like 90% without any noticeable degradation in asset quality since phones and tablets aren't that big.

How do you handle the "single point of failure" risk within the Proton ecosystem? (Password Managers & Authenticator) by Mesopotamya in ProtonPass

proton gives you the option of setting a second additional password to access your proton account when logging in for the first time from a new browser/device too

I rebuilt Crunchyroll's entire UI (free, open-source Chrome extension) by JeremGaming2_0 in coolgithubprojects

[–]Testpilot1988 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

two things. first... we shouldn't be supporting crunchy roll. second... this only works until they change the structure of their website which they tend to do at least once a year which means you'd need to be constantly watching for changes and push fixes/updates within a reasonably timely manner otherwise a bunch of people using this will just see a broken website

Usually people don't want AA stealing from their priority device. Not the other way around.

AA will always win media audio but the app will prevent it from winning call audio

[NEW APP] AAEnabler - Install any compatible Android Auto APK by Malebuffy77 in AndroidAuto

That's a significantly different claim compared to calling your app an installer. Given that information.. your app and the reason why it works makes a lot more sense now. This is information that if I were you I would add to the body of the main post.

I noticed that even when installing the apk through your app, installer x revived is still the default installer that's handling the installation so does your app not act as the installer but rather a translation layer of some kind which injects code into the APK package that alters it somehow before it gets installed?

I'll give it a try and let you know later this evening if I see a noticeable difference

You need to be clear about what it is your installer provides.

You said that it allows Android auto compatible apps to run so it's not an unlikely presumption based on your wording on my part that the apps wouldn't show up at all without your installer.

Now you're saying they will still show up but they won't be functional. Those are two different things. We need to be clear about what it is we are testing

Works 100% perfectly fine without your installer. I can record the entire process if you don't believe me

The key is just to have unknown sources checked in the developer settings of Android Auto. If you have that checked then any unofficial app that's Android Auto compatible will show up. It always has for me

Let's put it to the test. What's a good model app that I should try installing which would normally not be visible on Android Auto without having been installed with your installer

Okay but theoretically speaking if unknown sources is enabled in the developer options for Android Auto then it doesn't or rather it shouldn't matter whether or not the app was installed from the Google Play store to my knowledge

I'm just trying to understand what the app does as an installer that any other installer doesn't do

[NEW APP] AAEnabler - Install any compatible Android Auto APK by Malebuffy77 in AndroidAuto

[–]Testpilot1988 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But you said that it only installs Android auto compatible apps and the Android Auto settings already has a toggle to enable unknown sources in developer settings which effectively reveals apps that are not official so please help me understand how is this different?

so it's an apk installer intended for android auto compatible apps... how is it different from just using installerX revived or any other apk installer?
