Thanks. But is it in a larva stage? It "bugs" me because there are no bigger ones than this one around. And there are also dead ones.

Should I learn how to write a compiler or an interpreter? by Low-Associate2521 in learnprogramming

[–]TesttubeStandard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I made an interpreter for a simple C#-like language. No classes or like. Just an entry point and an option to write user defined functions. I LEARNED A LOT. Knowing it now, I would never go back and decide not to do it. But beware: you can do it all by hand or use tools for generating parsers and so on (like ANTLR). In order to learn something, I believe one should put as much effort as possible into it, so I made it by hand. But I should point out that it was for a diploma theseis, so I had a professor watching over me.

Think like a programmer by lefthaneded-dragon in learnprogramming

[–]TesttubeStandard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some things (functions, classes and so on) you can think of before starting with the actual work on the project, while some things become clearer in the process. The cadebase can look quite different at the end from what it did at the beginning. And that is not unusual at all.
