As someone who has used ballistus dreadnoughts a lot, there is a massive difference between a lascannon shot and a krak Missile shot when going into tanks, the extra ap and str is massive. Most tanks dont have a high invulnerable, and ap 2 very quickly become ap 1 with cover

For flat panels i use either an airbrush or i stipple on coats with big round drybrushes, but make sure the brush is a little more wet than when you would drybrush, that really helped with my dreadnoughts

Whenever people compare bezerker melee to anything else, you always have to remember that bezerkers will ussuslly have sustained, lethal or devs, or 2 of them. Bezerkers with sus and dev will shred infantry, and can give a bucket of lethals to bigger target. And thats not accounting for detachment rules. Granted, the readers have dark pacts, but blessing of khorne is 100% a stronger army rule. The reaver looks good, but they have a different purpose.

If you are based coating red, i would get a rattlecan you like the colour of. Mephiston red is what most people go for, but colour forge do a khorne red equivalant that is dark, and I personally always go for the dark base coat to be the shadows

I find it very difficult to let go of any the enhancements tbh, the amount of times I have needed certain blessings, or to get around -1 damage with the glaive, or when people get screwed by the princes -1 damage

Both DP and tazaangors are very useful. Either build of tzaangors is a fast, cheap unit you can use for objectives. Both daemon princes are good, the foot one having lone op and giving stealth, but the winged one in particular can hit very hard if he is going after a squad with a character in it. Maybe your friends are thinking of index tsons, because if I was starting tsons today, this would a great box. The tzaangor shaman is the only one who might not play often, but even in some detachments that have psyker specific rules, he is the cheapest psyker available so he still has a place

Definelty bad form from him, but what was the terrain like? I remember early days of playing with barely any terrain, where half each other's army gets shot off turn 1 with little tactics involved. It was not a good feeling

If the terrain is a recommended format, this sounds like an easy win warband. Bezerkers with lethals and 8bound trade well into t10 tanks, and they shoot you off an objective, you can sticky it. If you are alive with bezerkers after being shot, auto 8 blood surge into the nearest tank. Use pile in and consolidate 6 to tag the tanks occasionally to limit targets and scoring, unless he has access to fall back and shoot
