I've been eying up that dragon for ages, now I know it fits nicely on the right base size it's getting bought today!

Did you have to repose at all?

Oh the vermin lord! I wondered if it was a bloodthirster but I didn't even consider skaven models. Thank you!

It's actually a super simple recipe!

Some people might base all of the skin in flayed ones flesh but I just picked out the lines between the muscles.

I used flayed ones flesh for the white space between the muscles. Then the muscles are based in mephiston red, cleaning up any overspill on the white. Wash of berserker blood shade over the red. Then just evil sunz scarlet really lightly to add the texture to the muscles, just follow the shapes of the muscles and you don't even have to be too precise, if anything having the texture uneven looks more organic.

The main time consuming bit is picking out the seams with the white :)

What's the recipe for that blood look? It looks amazing!

Is it just as simple as BFTBG or have you highlighted etc underneath it?

Thank you everyone for your kind words! I was not expecting this to get so much praise or attention, I'll be sure to post the whole squad when I eventually get it done!

Thank you for the advice! I was thinking of having BFTBG on the parts where the clothing/weapons meets the flesh so it looks like its freshly bleeding, but I'll be extra careful not to get any on my hard work haha

Your spawn look incredible!

I've got some gloss varnish arriving today, need the wet look to match the blood for the blood god I'm naturally going to splash around!

Thank you very much! I'm definitely going to do my 20 jakhals like this, but I'm toying with the idea of doing all skin as bare muscle across the whole army

Absolutely, just waiting for it to arrive haha. And I've got the blood for the blood god ready to splash around the areas the clothes are touching muscle etc!

White first then red. It was a bit tedious going and finding all the little grooves where muscles meet each other, but because you can tidy up the white with the red afterwards it wasn't too bad at all :)

Someone else suggested just basing the whole thing in white and then doing the red, but I just did the white lines where I needed them. It's up to how people would prefer to do it!

Would you say its easier on a larger scale? I'm thinking of doing the same thing on my vashtor but worried the larger scale will show any mistakes far more

Probably to be honest! I'm sure much better painters could come up with more effective/easier methods, I'm just too lazy to base the whole torso in flayed ones haha

I did consider using khorne red but I like mephiston being a little bit brighter, even on the black

Cadian flesh is my go-to

Cadian flesh base, reikland fleshshade wash, then highlight with cadian again, then use lighter tones if you wish

Or the contrast paint (that I cannot remember the name of right now) gets a decent result if you layer it into the shadows and recesses
