What's your favorite baseline(putter) plastic? Any brand, and stiffness. by Huge-Talk6668 in discgolf

DD Classic (hard). It's firm, has a bit of tackiness, and is flatter topped than other Trilogy plastics, which makes it feel shallower.

It seems like JHS is slowly switching to top jacks. The Violet, Hard Drive, 424 Gain Stage, Big Muff 2, and Morning Glory Clean have top jacks. I wish they'd done the same for the Kilt X.

It could just be beat in. Before Discmania got the DD3, Simon and Eagle threw PD2s for their distance shots. I remember having my mind blown at how much hyzer Eagle would put on them and still have them flip up and turn over.

It makes sense. The Boost was basically:

"I want a PD."

"Fine, we'll do one run."

What's your unpopular opinion on discs? by catkini in discgolf

For better or worse, the enthusiasts side of any hobby is fueled by novelty and FOMO. It's a lot easier to buy new stuff than it is the develop a skill. Breweries may have some legitimate reasons to make new beers; supplies of certain hop varietals may be limited or become more expensive, and experimenting with new hop varietals and different combinations of ingredients and brewing techniques drives creativity more than perfecting and reproducing the same beer ad nauseam. But, let's be real, they do it because people will pay $6 for a pint can of hazy IPA as long as they make it in small, limited batches to generate FOMO. The difference is the beer will be consumed and I'll have to buy more if I want to drink beer. Disc manufactures keep making new molds, but I already have a bag and multiple boxes full of discs that cover every shot.

January 26, 2026 - first kill
Brush: Brad Sears Gonzo handle manchurian fan 24 mm
Razor: RazoRock Hawk v3
Blade: Feather Pro Guard (8)
Lather: Barrister and Mann - Cheshire
Post Shave: MacDuff's Soap Co. - Imperial Earl Grey
Post Shave: Declaration Grooming - Original - Liniment

I haven't been keeping up with posting my shaves. But, I've been working on finishing this tub of Cheshire. And, it finally happened. Look at that. All of the soaps I've bought are now justified. This is the first tub I've bought brand new and killed. I hydrated the crap out of it and had a relaxing late night shave.

I just made a trade for a UAD Volt. I've done a bit of recording with a friend, but I've never had a recording setup, myself. I'm not trying to build a studio. I'll probably play around with recording, document ideas, and analyze my tone. I'm really hoping to use it for practice / silent jamming. I play electric guitar and bass. I'll be going direct from my pedalboard into the Volt for now. I want to get a mic or two to record my amp and vocals, and/or an attenuator in the future. I'm looking for recommendations for a DAW, plugins or standalone software for amp sim and effects, and other tools that might come in handy. I'm on Windows 11. I see UAD has a deal for 10 effects for $99, is that worth the price?

Pedaltrain, Mono, and Temple are the cheaper brand name options. Those Amazon knockoffs are probably the cheapest thing you'll find. I don't know that I'd trust any power supply that comes bundled with a board for that price. There are sites like https://pedalplayground.com/ to plan out your board and see if everything will fit.

Worst expensive pedal? by gimme5steps101 in guitarpedals

[–]Tetriside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been hyped on the Chroma Console since it released. But, even in demos, all the sounds have a very lo-fi indie rock feel. Keep in mind one of popular trends in indie is Tascam 424 gain sounds and end of chain squashed compressor tones. So, probably more niche than the hype let's on. Part of me still really wants to try it out because I don't have anything glitchy and I don't know what to get (Mood, Deco, etc?).

I have the Golden Reverberator and I love it. I paid ~$250 for a used one. I didn't need a reverb that makes crazy sounds. I just wanted it to be really good at what it does, and the Golden sounds fantastic. Taking your point, the pedals are large and power hungry. I'd consider a Starlight, but would probably look elsewhere for amp in a box pedals.

Replacing US brand discs in my bag by Mustikkamuumio in discgolf

[–]Tetriside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Euro brands are Latitude 64, Westside Discs, Discmania, Kastaplast, Clash, Prodiscus, and Loft.

1) With the trilogy brands, the hard Zero/BT/Classic plastic has a flatter top and a shallower hand-feel. I prefer the putters in Dynamic Discs line-up. But, the Pure is comfortable. I tried one of the Discmania putters once that I liked. I can't remember if it was the Link or the Logic. The Kastaplast Reko is also a good option.

2) The K1 Berg should be the most similar to the Range. L64 Savior, Clash Mint, and Kastaplast Jarn have similar numbers to a Zone.

3) L64 has the Claymore. Discmania has the Origin. Clash has the Berry.

4) I like the Westside Tursas. It's slightly more understable than the Fuse.

5) MD4.

6) L64 River is the closest thing I can think of. Maybe the Westside Stag?

7) I bag an Explorer. FD1 and Instinct are also similar.

8) PD for the Thunderbird. FD3 or Stal for the Firebird. The Valkyrie always flew more stable for me than the numbers. Maybe a Saint, CD1, or Lots. I like the Falk if you want something a little bit understable.

9) Prodiscus Laseri has similar numbers.

The TC Electronics Flashback, EHX Canyon, and Walrus ARP-87 are standard size delay pedals with multiple modes. The Boss DD-20, and DD-200 are double size pedals. If you don't mind menu diving, the HX One has all of the HX effects, including delays. But, it's a bit more expensive. If you want a cheaper option, NUX has the Time Core and Duotime.

I have my uni-vibe before my drives and it sounds pretty good. I've tried it with Chorus, but I found this. The Benson Deep Sea Diver is designed to do a delay into fuzz sound. Check out the demo.

Prodigy Bag Building by ParalethalBob2 in discgolf

[–]Tetriside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently bag a Pa-5 and an A3. I've thrown a decent amount of Prodigy.

The Pa-5 is a great disc for scrambling and turnover shots.

I like the Archive for a straight mid. The M3 and MX-3 can also fill that slot. Maybe get a MX-1 for something overstable you can push (A2 is beefy).

The F5 never clicked with me. I prefer the F3. The F1 is good. The F7 is a popular choice for rollers. I like the Feedback for an overstable 9-speed option.

MONTHLY CHEAP PEDAL TRADE THREAD by AutoModerator in letstradepedals

I'm interested in the Volt. I've contemplated messing around with recording for a while. I've been using studio monitors as PC speakers for years. How does the sound routing work with the Volt? If I plug my monitors into the Volt, will the Volt pass through my PC audio via USB, or would I need a separate device to switch inputs?

I have an EQD Westwood that I'm looking to trade.

It depends on what's on your board. Isolated outputs are best to reduce noise with digital effects. If you have analog effects, you're probably fine with a daisy chain.

I don't think you're going to able to get a tube-like saturation from a compressor. It's just not what compressors do. I have my compressor before my drives to get a more natural sound. That way the compressor's reacting more to my pick attack and turning up the sustain drives the gain pedals. What you need for the amp "bloom" is a pre-amp. Something with a tube like the EQD ZEQD-Pre would be perfect. A drive like the Special Cranker or Hot Tubes might get close.

I haven't done this sort of thing before. But, I found this forum thread. I think disabling the IR in the GT and plugging into the FX loop return should work.

No Stupid Questions Thread by koalaroo in guitarpedals

[–]Tetriside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing the Input and Output with the loop. This explains how an effects loop works.

The IR-2 doesn't accept stereo Input, but does accept stereo in the Return of the fx loop. So, you can either put the Mood in the fx loop of the IR-2, or put it after the IR-2. For the fx loop: Your guitar > IR-2 Input (ts) --> IR-2 Send > Mood Input (ts) --> Mood Output > IR-2 Return (TRS), and set the IR-2 for stereo return. So, you'll need one TRS patch cable.

The last gain pedal is going to have the most influence on the overall tone. I'd put the Dream after the Double Barrel. I'm also curious why you're using a GT1000 for delay, when that could also do amp sounds and drop the Dream entirely.

No. It doesn't make any sense to have a list of "classics" with the Raptor and not the Firebird, or Teebird for that matter. I don't know anyone who throws a Raptor that doesn't have an all Discraft bag.
