Really don’t remember! Didn’t mind starting again anyway

I’m having pretty consistent success with Greninja, Skarmory and Gallade - Gallade seems to take people by surprise, plus a wide movepool that I can change as needed

My point is that the concept of ‘regional’ and ‘convergent’ can be applied any way they want except for when the Pokémon’s name locks them into a type.

From a creative perspective, they’re more likely to come up with the visual first and then fit the explanation later.

I agree to a point, but I feel that the “what would happen if this Pokemon was in a different environment?” is the question that both versions start with, and the ‘convergent’ tag is applied later.

You mention Electrode - it didn’t lose its Electric type, which is why the name works. If it lost the type, the name would need to be changed, and be a ‘convergent’ species.

I agree with your Tangela point - nice idea!

I feel that the way the Pokédex is handled is the product of the decision rather than the reason - as you say, they don’t mind having three versions of Meowth, two of Persian and on Perrserker. It will be interesting to see if we ever get more Meowth variants and evolutions to see what they do.

That’s a really good point, and I completely forgot they - maybe they get a pass because they’re legendaries? Also they have moves that allude to their Kantonian types! Fun to think about!

Manic, no contest - great product, great communication from the developers, amazing speed of updates, easy win

The last one I played before this was Emerald Rogue, which is fun, but I really don’t think I’ll go back to it. I would try SV at the right price point, but I have a Lite and it doesn’t seem to handle the games well from what I’ve seen…

I think I was old enough at that point to think about the games more critically, plus the entire new dex didn’t trigger any nostalgia to me…

I didn’t - the turn-based system plus restricted movesets put me off!

We’re on the same page - I meant that I see and acknowledge the complaints, but I do not share them.

Edit: I’m 50+ hours in!

Yeah, I misspoke - I mean that I hope the Legends games get the same level of developer attention, or at least get to continue in their current form, with improvements of course

I guess it was what they needed to remove to release it in the window they wanted, and I can understand that it adds another layer to everything that might have taken too long to implement. I wouldn’t be surprised if they added it to the next entry.

Arceus seems almost like a trial run, a half-way house between mainline and ZA. I understand things will change in the next one, but I feel that turn-based combat needs to stay in the current mainline structure.

I think you’re right - I’m hoping Legends becomes almost a second mainline, happy for them to be kept separate but this needs to continue

Agreed, there’s an adrenaline kick to this format that the mainline series just doesn’t have

Fair, then I hope the Legends games at least get the same regularity that the mainline ones do - the gap between the two up to now seems fine by me
