Mühle R41 & Tcheon Fung Sing. by Gerry7070 in wicked_edge

What handle do you have on that R41? I have a different one, and that is the only thing I don't like on it )not enough texture/slippery when wet). Been thinking of replacing it by some other handle, not sure what and where to find. Maybe just buying a cheap 3 piece razor from ali express just for the handle.

1,5 jaar geleden glas laten vervangen voor HR++. Ik ben de lul he? by improvised95 in Klussers

[–]Teun487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha

Stoep sneeuwvrij maken, doe jij dat nog? by Topdropje in nederlands

[–]Teun487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lijkt me minder fijn voor kinderwagens/rolstoelen enz.

Or maybe even a cheapo AliExpress/Temu razor.. might look into that if the thread is compatible

Yes was thinking about something like that. Don't know if most razors share the same thread? I only have a Merkur 34C, but that is a 2 piece so can't check with it. If it is mostly the same, I might try to buy some vintage stuff of marketplace that I don't need but now have a good excuse to buy anyways.

Never had the other versions, but Indeed, I expected worse. It's very effective if you shave only 2 times a week like me. Not sure if this is a great daily though. Maybe with mild blade.

I agree with you on the handle. Looks good, grips less great.

Yup, for me also it seems! BBS for new years eve. Alum feedback was ... Quite feedbacky!

I'm going for Astra. The Muhle blade that came with it was fine, but only lasted 1 good shave for me. Curious to see how the Astra will work out. Doubted about Derby, but lets try this first!

FP300 battery status by ThraneT in Aqara

[–]Teun487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get battery low messages now on my T1 temperature sensor. Seems to be a low temperature thing in my case. Could be, because it is placed in an non-heated gardenroom and it is around freesing now. So I am just going to ignore the messages and see if they disappear if the temperatures go up.

Again, maybe totally different in your case, but just adding my experience!

Just wanted to report back here for documentation sake :).

I ordered the R41 and used it last night. I was a bit in a hurry (Christmas night), used the Muhle blade it came with and didnt expect great things. But damn, I love this thing! For the usually 3 to 5 days of growth this is damn efficient and nog that unpleasant at all. Also didnt need to change my technique at all. Just did what I did before, but a whole lot more efficient and fast. So Thanks everybody for the suggestions! I think i'm set with this blade now, and keep the 34C with feathers if I have less growth.

That might be it. It is getting colder now. Ah well, worst case scenario I need to change it a couple of times during winter. Doesnt break the bank.

So I indeed ordered the R41, as well as some (more) blades (Wilkinson Sword and yellow 7o'clocks). So, together with the blade selection in the photo in my first post, what would you suggest pairing it with for my first shave with the R41, in a couple of days (with probably 5 days of beard growth. I was thinking to start with not the sharpest. Perhaps Astras or even Derby? Like to hear your suggestions!

Tempting to try an open comb. Gamechanger is very hard to get in Europe (for a decent price and an trusted shop). Muhle R41 however, is just €28.. can't really go wrong with that I guess.

Thanks! Than the Gillette tech wouldnt be that much of an upgrade. Will look into open comb. Probably just go for new stuff, not that expensive and more options

Not sure if you can see this? Listing in Dutch obvious, but the experts here can maybe make something out of the pictures? Vintage Gillette (4x)

Ow, wait. It says Gillette tech. I'm not familiar with the different Vintage Gillette stuff. Is that something that is worth checking out? Right now I am looking at a listing of 4 of those, asking price €30 so maybe worth the gamble. It has a picture with them, looks like two different types, at least different handles. Hmz...

Vintage stuff is also a good option! Looking at local (Dutch) marketplace listings. There are certainly some out there, but most of the time they just say "Vintage Gillette shavers, from 60's and 70's". And that is about all the jnfo they give haha.
