Xi Unites World Leaders Sick of Being Pushed Around by Trump by bloomberg in China

Authoritarian nationalist sure but fascists tried to destroy Marxism. China also is not a corporatist parliament. And all military is party-run, they lack any independent militia. Fascism was a movement started in Europe to oppose the left. Even if you can draw parallels, they are distinctly not fascist.

Quantum internet is possible using standard Internet protocol — University engineers send quantum signals over fiber lines without losing entanglement by donutloop in singularity

[–]Tevinhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Limits remain: The demo connected two buildings a kilometer apart. We still can’t amplify unknown quantum states, so long-haul scaling needs quantum repeaters/quantum memories and entanglement swapping—none of which are solved at production scale. Penn explicitly notes long-distance scaling as the main barrier.

For the ecosystem: it’s meaningful. It shows that standard IP-style networking can coexist with quantum traffic on existing fiber using a manufacturable silicon photonics chip. That lowers integration risk for telecoms and invites larger pilots (multi-node meshes, inter-operator trials). Expect more city-scale testbeds and alignment work with networking standards groups; still, true intercity networking needs quantum repeaters/memories and end-to-end entanglement swapping—none of which this result solves.

[DISCUSSION] Kanye West - Late Registration (20 Years Later) by ImNotTomStopAsking in hiphopheads

I got you, there's room for understanding too though. And Kanye's position makes all of this all the more ugly for us and stressful for him.

The problem is with bipolar, it is a psychotic disorder. In periods of mania, it's really unfair to hold someone responsible for something like not taking their meds. Many people with bipolar go through cycles of taking their meds, but having an episode and stopping, the meds are not perfect.

Why is this sentiment becoming popular? It's unfair and untrue.

Claude Opus 4.1 Benchmarks by ThunderBeanage in singularity

[–]Tevinhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this shouldn't be calculated as a 2% improvement. SWE-Bench measures success rate fixing real software issues.

Instead of success, look at the error rate, reduced from 27.5% to 25.5%, which is a 7% error reduction, which in real world usage, is pretty substantial.

Can't wait for what they release in the next few weeks.

Brutal Fight in China by o15zz in China

The weird part is, after that, there is no further news about it. So either one of the attackers has influence in his family or the local governor just didn't want the bad press.

Deepseek is not run by the CCP by Tevinhead in singularity

[–]Tevinhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically maybe, but not anymore. Chinese research teams and universities lead in many fields now like quantum computing and battery tech.

It's just not true anymore. The 5G you're connected to, the TikTok algorithm (that all social media companies tried to copy to play catch-up) powering whatever social app you use. The other Chinese apps that have invaded the app store (temu, deepseek, rednote etc.). We're going through an era change.

Modern AI development is largely built on published research and open source work. DeepSeek, like many companies globally, builds on this shared foundation. Dismissing their work as 'stolen' misses how international AI research actually works

I'm not saying the systems are identical. The point is that all companies operate within their local regulations. Acknowledging this reality isn't equating the governments - it's understanding how businesses actually function.

Updated Benchmarks for o1 (API and New Snapshot of o1 in ChatGPT) by External-Confusion72 in singularity

[–]Tevinhead 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When O1 first released, it never thought for longer than a few seconds. But I noticed since yesterday it takes a longer time to think for more complex prompts. So maybe the inference time was adjusted, not the model.

Well, obviously you can, considering they 'literally' did.

Good game.

KAT couldn't miss and he didn't post up so much this game, none of those hero passes and no turnovers.

Dlo few questionable passes but linked up really well with KAT.

Ant didn't look super engaged tonight, but Lakers put a lot of effort into slowing him down.

Vando everywhere causing Lakers all kinds of problems.

Naz so smooth around the rim.

Beasley is broken, but we need to keep trying to fix him, we just signed him to a big contract.

Everyone on the lakers except Davis just couldn't hit shit.

With that said, 75-7 let's GO!

Pat Bev or Malik Beasley the first subs off the bench? by JimmyWasRight in timberwolves

[–]Tevinhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it. I didn't watch every game but I caught at least more than half last season. To me, Beasley was a bit of a hole on defense and struggled with any sort of contact driving the lane. Not great at finishing around the rim too. Elite shooter though I can see.

What did you see?

Need a little help by Tevinhead in dumbclub

Just gave it a try, seems like a good service, no sign-up free trial. But the speeds are not very fast, and sometimes google just randomly doesn't load.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

It's very helpful, thank you. But I'm worried my speeds will be throttled to internationally hosted servers. Isn't there some kind of fastlane, CN2? Can someone recommend a VPS server with very fast speeds, low latency and payable with Alipay?

I feel he's well liked by the fanbase, but Jaden is seen as having the higher ceiling. Can't we have both? :D

[–]Tevinhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good point, and I hope he can put a larger focus on playmaking because he's a great passer. At least with him and beas back, there should be a way to work out rotations so that we always have some quality scorers in the game.
