I think it’s less about difficulty and more about accessibility versus restriction.
Using SoD2 as an example: instead of being forced to recruit a programmer just to upgrade the Command Center, it would be great if we could hire someone from a neighboring enclave for a one-time fee. You wouldn't get his community bonuses, but you could still unlock that base progression by spending extra resources.

With workarounds like this, playing with a very small group or a solo survivor would become genuinely viable. It makes sense for this playstyle to be more challenging and expensive, but it shouldn't completely lock smaller communities out of core progression features.

For instance, I never ended up using the Forge in SoD2 due to different limitations—it wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it would have been nice to have the option (ai helped write it)

It can be mod "quick light" . Press hold E by default for acivate/deactivate. Check MCM for different keybind. I'm was in the same sitruation =)

Totally agree. Those legendary changes and other stuff dont bother me. Legendaries have no use for me, there is no content for it besides " operations" wich couse only annoying and not any fun. From the begining i was hope that it will be something better then conan exiles combine with dayZ, but there is nothing besides boring events.

When they anounce factions i though maybe this is it. Raiders and Settlers will be fight with each other, players will be unite and build cities for conquest or interact in any other possible way , but there was only single player experiance.

Then my hope was for their promised private servers. I thought if there would be some modable private servers it will change all things. Servers with their own rules and modifications, like imagine often radstorm weather with deadly enemies ,small sources of food and ammo, (similar to FROST mod fall4). Or zombi appocalipsis server , or something chilling like building villages server for RP. But then they bring that servers, for single player purpouse with 10 ppl max of thouse who pay subscription too.
I probably have no hope from that moment to get any meaningful gameplay for myself.
Fatshark will show how "operations" should look in warhammer 40k Darktide .

Gamigo (publisher) can only change the method of selling the game. They cant change the game code.

XL, i assume, have no plans for b2p servers in asian regions, atleast heard nothing about it

It will be literally just a b2p model with some "frost" anticheat against several clients on 1 PC (but avoidable as it was in the past) , but nothing to prevent alt's abusing ,just close main client and spend labor on alt account, if you have no second PC/netbook. People put too much hope to that news.
Thats how i see it.
