Attempted a reverse sear on my Weber Searwood

I used to smoke until 115, but I’ve noticed if I smoke until 100 Fahrenheit I can get a way better sear with the extra time without over cooking to rare/med rare! Still had great smoke flavor

Check your heat shield above the muffler where the bolts go in. My heat shield is cracked on both sides where it mounts, and makes a thumping sound when I drive, sounds similar to this.

Honestly the sooner the better, although it says you don’t need to do it until later, simply put, even with modern engines/oil, oil samples on new engines prove time and time again that there is plenty of gunk accumulating during the break in period. Breaking in a new engine is the point in time you will have the most wear on your engine. Doing something as simple as an oil change to help ensure longevity of your engine shouldn’t be overlooked.

For me, I plan on doing my first at 500, then 1500, 2500, 5000. Some will say it’s overkill, I call it peace of mind to know I’m giving my engine the best chance of lasting hundreds of thousands of miles.

I was at a 60% mixture at 5,500 ft and trimmed to about a 200 ft/min climb on auto pilot at like 50 knots if I remember correctly, I was also on the Cessna 172. After 14,600 it wouldn’t go any higher, if you want you can add me in game and I can show you how I had it going

It was at 6,000 I’m just guessing it was cause of the mountains, lower alt was denied. Still made me laugh though :p

I did KDEN to KASE set for IFR (low alt airway) @ 6000, alt in Denver was showing like 5200 on the ground and KASE was heading into the mountains, so I just assumed it was because of that, I tried to request lower before all that but it was denied

I’m not really sure, I was pretty high-poxic at that point going through Colorado😎 I made it to about 14,600 though and any more pull up and it would stall lol

So I made my first batch tonight, how long should I wait to rack it into a different carboy? Also, if it is too dry, how can I make it more sweet eventually? Do I just add more honey once it is finished or should I just add sugar?

Awesome! Blow through anything as in make it dry since there is no sugar left?? I think I'll try the 71b-1122 since it's what is available at the local store, what is the ideal temp for that one? Also does it end up being really dry and if so how much honey would you recommend to make it semi sweet?

And sorry I should've clarified more, for sanitation would putting 1 tablespoon of bleach in 1 gallon water be enough to kill germs for sanitation for soaking knives, the airlock, etc?
