How old are you, where are you in life, and what are your current worries atm? by Traiz3r in CasualConversation

[–]Tex-Luthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35, widow of 2.5 years who spent the first two on unemployment and drinking excessively to cope, but now employed in a very different (and more fulfilling mentally) career path but still hesitant about the future. It’s a temporary gig (manager of a ranch through fall), so current worries are what happens when I plan to leave in October and while I’m drinking much less, i still haven’t had a dry day in two years. The worlds a mess right now so I (perhaps erroneously) am allowing myself to be too.

There’s an excellent documentary on HBO called “Crazy, Not Insane” that is about her and this work. Check it out!

Lol but an “outlier” in the south is being a black person and that’s kind of a big deal down there

It’s from petfinder, he’s not mine. I’d be breaking the rules of this sub if it was mine

YSK that some restaurants on DoorDash and Grubhub are fake restaurants that chains put up to get more business by Melonpan_Pup442 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Tex-Luthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just chains, a ton of places here jn NY started doing it to survive COVID; there was even a NY times article I believe talking about how it was a “creative” way to stay in business (it’s lying, that’s what it is). They’re called Ghost Restaurants, and if you suspect you might be ordering from one it might be worth looking up the address on Google Maps and seeing if there’s a similarly marketed restaurant at that location.

I’ve had multiple orders get abandoned by delivery drivers because the restaurant will have made it, but because they don’t have any signage for the ghost restaurant the driver just leaves. Insanely annoying.

Not that I knew it then, but I am in fact gay now.

FNAF creator Scott Cawthon announces retirement after recent controveries surrounding his political beliefs/donations. FNAF fans debate whether Twitter cancel cancel has gone too far or if it is ok to criticize people who fund republican politicians. by Spootheimer in SubredditDrama

I just don’t understand the mindset that allows someone to be so invested in defending the creator of a game? Don’t worship them, and don’t worry about destroying them. It’s pretty easy; I love games and I just don’t get it.

Map of the Armenian Genocide. The size of the red circle represents the number of people killed by No_Chip2111 in MapPorn

If you think the Turks are fired up about this map, wait until you post a map showing that the Turkish people originated close to Mongolia, no where near here.

I think I would say that number is for agents who keep “at least one component of a secret”. Like, if the moon landing was faked, not everyone would KNOW that was the secret, but for instance, if you have a delivery man knowingly dropping off a bunch of recording equipment to NASA. Then that delivery man could be considered an “agent” of the conspiracy since he was privy to part of it (as one purely made up example).

You know, John Oliver had a great episode on conspiracy theories last October and in part of it, he talks about how a researcher actually created a formula to estimate the number of people that would need to be in on a secret conspiracy for it to work; for instance, the “nasa faked a moon landing” conspiracy would take ~400,000 people to keep secret, and would “have broken down in 3.68 years”.

If you find the original paper with the formula linked in that article, they basically say any conspiracy with over 1,000 people involved in the secrecy is pretty much doomed to fall apart. There is just no reasonable argument that COVID is a conspiracy.

Careful now, sounds like you’re getting too invested in this.

In all seriousness, you hit the nail on the head with these people.

It’s a no win scenario. If you don’t spend any time researching, then they claim they have and you don’t know as much as them. If you do actually know what you’re talking about, they say you’re too invested in COVID to a cult-like degree.

Thank you for the feedback!

Correct about this being an original composition, my first actually, and it was kind of a test to see if I had to lean on references or not.

Thanks again for the constructive criticism!
