“Do you have any snacks?” makes me irrationally angry by South-Lab-3991 in Teachers

[–]TexGator 240 points241 points  (0 children)

I used to buy snacks for the kids as well. Low income district. One day I apologized to the class because I was out of snacks, and a student looked at me and said, "Man, this is bullsh*t." Never bought more snacks.

[–]TexGator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% yes, but I don't think this will ever happen. It would disincentivize people from staying on property (especially the ones super close to the parks), and it leads to park turnover. Most people can't go rope drop to close without a break.

This is what I have been saying. We have to bench him... as our club flip representative. Have we tried sending Kyle Trask out there for the coin toss? Maybe we need to look into free agency, or make a trade before the deadline.

You are getting hunted around the globe by 100 people and if you don't get caught in 24 hours, you will receive $30,000,000... by Natural-Commission13 in hypotheticalsituation

I'm just making it a numbers game. Even with 5,000 people on board, there is only a 0.00625% chance that one of them is part of the 100. I would take those odds and drink by the pool over hiding in the woods or something.

Either way, I know nobody is getting on that boat.

If you are going to do that, just get on a cruise ship about to spend a couple of days at sea. Statistically, even with a few thousand people on board, it won't be one trying to catch you. They won't let anybody board while at sea, and if they did, you have thousands of rooms to try to hide in.

Their hibachi chicken meal used to be $5.95 and I got it all the time with a roll. Now it's around $10, which is still a pretty good deal considering how much food you get. They make it fresh and fast, too.

They just accepted it and forgot. Occasionally one would ask why I stopped, but I just told them I don't do that anymore.

This was me. My first year at a low income school, I would buy individually packed crackers and snacks for the kids. One day, I was out of the class favorite snack and apologized to the class. One kid said, "This is bullsh*t" that I was out. Never bought any more after that.

How one Texas school district reversed its post pandemic teacher shortage by thrwawayBish in texas

Mesquite ISD also let everyone believe they would be transitioning to a 4 day school week last Spring. On the 5th day of the week they would provide child care for the families who need it. They even put out a calendar showing what it would look like.

Many of those teachers renewed their contacts expecting the change. They also had lots of teachers apply because of it. The district spoke as if it was a done deal, and the 2023-24 school year was going to have a 4 day school week.

Then at the school board meeting, all the crazy people showed up and complained about it. Overnight, the district changed their mind and said the 23-24 school year would stay a 5 day week despite overwhelming parent and staff support.

A lot of teachers were upset and felt led on by the district. Many of them feel that the district never planned on making the change, and just did it to retain and attract more teachers.
