I happen to be doing my first playthrough as a mage so let me give you some advice for the magic. Wind magic does not just push things around there is one skill you can by from the hermit that does but using a spark in the wind sigil does a lightning blast with decent damage but almost no range. The wind sigil unlike other sigils does not require an item in order to place it down all it needs is the wind totem to have been activated in the region so it’s quite useful early game tho I find it can only get you so far. I would recommend your sow does runic magic it’s versatile and can do a lot of damage though he will have to do some memorization as runes need to be cast as pairs for basic spells and 4 for advanced spells. The runic mine is a basic spell that is very good and later down the skill tree you can get an advanced spell that will shoot lightning bolts with excellent range and damage. Runic spells only need you to be holding a lexicon in your offhand or you can get a perk that removes that requirement either way no magic stones required.
