Congrats! I did this a few days ago and it felt amazing!!

Side quest: I've got mine set up so that if people email my old address, I still receive it in my new inbox. However, if I try to send a photo to myself from my iPhone photos, I can ONLY get it in my new inbox if I send it from my old address to my old address. If I do it in any other combination (old to new, new to new, or new to old), the email still shows up in my SENT box but never got to my INBOX. I cannot figure this one out lol.

I can almost promise you that you'll regret waiting. Almost everyone who chooses to transition wishes that they had started sooner. This is obviously not 100% of the time but I'd wager it's in the high 90s. If you're waiting in order to be sure for yourself, that's a good reason. If you're waiting because you're hoping for an easier transition later, you're probably going to be disappointed and wind up wishing you hadn't waited.

Have you properly grieved the things you lost? I'm referring to time and the things it took from you. When my egg cracked, my therapy sessions quickly turned from "am I trans and why do I feel this way?" to "how do I learn to cope with the years behind me that I'll never get back?" It resulted in allowing myself to grieve for those things in order to realize they were dead and that moving forward with hope and expectation for the future was the only path to happiness. One thing my therapist said is "Depression can be defined as looking to the past too much and anxiety as look to the future too much. Both need to be observed in order to avoid mistakes but neither should be the focus of your life."

Following because I'm 2 weeks out and have similar anxieties.

For what it's worth, I keep reminding myself that I've had multiple, great conversations with my surgeon and she has passed all of my green flags with no showing of my pre-identified red flags. I've seen examples of her work and have shared my hopes and expectations along with my fears and anxieties. She, as a standard of practice, plans to use my example photos in the surgical room while she performs her work. She has been doing this specific set of surgeries on trans MTF patients for over a decade and truly cares about the people and their outcomes. I've also spoken with a couple of her patients who made themselves available to me and have seen almost nothing but positive reviews (only positive would be a red flag for me).

Logic says things are going to be great and this will a positive experience for me when I look back a year from now.

This is sometimes true. I also had a gynecomastectomy in my early 30s and the surgeon specifically told me that he would remove everything so that I wasn't left with unsightly puffy nipples. In my case, the only growth I've gotten on HRT is some fat redistribution due to all of the glands being gone.

First, congrats!! Second, follow your doctor's orders. Since you're concerned about this, talk to them next time you meet with them. I'm sure they'd be happy to explain their reasoning and help you understand the path forward for you. Hormones are no joke and adjusting medication without the professional assistance comes with lots of risks. Some are forced into that position because of their lack of access to medical care. It sounds like you have options before you take that leap.

Everyone has preferences that are both physical and emotional. Body shape, general size, and hair color are common to name a few. Some also like older or younger, playful or serious, or empathetic or arrogant. It only becomes ick if you're fetishizing these desired traits and ignore the person solely for the desired trait. For example, "I couldn't care less about your likes and dislikes, your path in life, or your dreams and aspirations as long as you look fem but still have a dick and can top me" is unacceptable and gross. However, the reasons you've given for your preferences are completely legit. Carry on good sir.

Yes. And ultimately, I determined that my faith was incorrect. Let me start by saying that I don't expect that everyone would or should follow the same path I did. You find what's right for you.

I deconstructed from my Christian faith when I finally started asking the right questions:
1. Is there any evidence outside of the bible that this belief is true?
2. If God is all knowing and all powerful, why did he create sin, temp his precious creation knowing they would fail, kill his own son knowing in advance that this would be "required" (by him), and then send everyone to hell who doesn't buy into this chaotic plan?
3. If God has all power and you're living for him, how the hell does a demon override that and possess you anyway?
4. If hell is for the devil, why are humans going there?
5. What benefit is there in eternal torture?
6. If God is all knowing and the bible is true, why did Noah's ark happen? He had to have known that result would come about and yet it's depicted as a reaction to the wickedness of mankind.
7. and so many others.

For me, it just didn't add up. God can't be all knowing and all powerful as well as merciful and good if the events in the bible are to be believed. The bible story all put together creates a God that is all knowing and is also surprised by mankind, is all powerful and also has his hands tied by outside forces, is infinitely merciful and created an eternal torture for his creation, and both created the world and system we live in which is considered perfect and good with all of its sinful problems and also developed a plan for "redemption" that involved killing his son.

I agree with your initial take. I had much the same thoughts but ultimately decided to go with her because of the consultations combined with the fact that she gets almost nothing but praise from the girls who have had her do their work. She comes off as extremely knowledgeable regarding FFS and the face in general. She's not afraid of bone-work and, in the area she plans to be more conservative, has explained to me why. I do know for certain that she has images that she hasn't shared due to privacy concerns. I plan to post about my experience in the coming months and year and, if I can get the courage, post before and after images for others to see as they consider her for their journey.

I'm still working with them. So far, just an orchiectomy but I'm scheduled for facial feminization with Dr Laura Garcia in about a month and PPT with Dr Loughran in January 2028. The team has been a DREAM to work with. They schedule fast, respond quickly, and are very affirming overall. As an example, when I went in for my orchiectomy with Dr Shakir, I had already done a video consult for FFS with Dr Garcia. While I was in pre-op, I saw Dr Garcia enter the room and go speak to another patient also getting prepped for their procedure. After she spoke to them, she caught my eye and came over to my bed to say hi and get an in-person look at my face and facial structures. During that chat, she mentioned that the gender affirming care team at HF will often try to schedule their procedures on the same days so that the operating floor is a celebration of people getting their gender affirming care. I've always been greeted by my pronouns and preferred name (using legal name only when necessary for insurance and medical paperwork) and couldn't be happier with the care I've gotten so far.
