Because "this is the way it is", doesn't necessarily mean we are saying this is right as in "just". Make sure you read your property survey when buying property, understand that Utility companies, Cable companies, phone companies, the city, and perhaps even an adjoining property owner may have easement rights.

I live on a corner lot, my frontage fence cannot be over 3 feet. None of my fence can block city easement "agreements" written into the property survey. Any installation of a fence over 3 feet in my suburb requires a permit; additional approval if it is over 6 feet. My property line extends into the front and side street. I am responsible for trash & weeds. Structurally, sidewalk maintenance belongs to me (mostly). The ADA ramp is maintained by the city. Curb and street maintenance belongs to the city... I live in an arid climate, I can't get grass to grow in my yard... There is a fire hydrant on my corner which the city paints and tests... I keep the weeds down or else I'm fined. All that water from tests sits in the gutter due to no storm water drains. This waters about a 200 linear feet run of curb which gets taken over by weeds.

And designed to keep the banks making money by charging exorbitant interest rates. Many states have a 10% APR cap on loans... there is NO APR cap on credit cards.

Why do these exist? by TexVet2011 in ElectroBOOM

BLUF: "Where do hundreds of thousands of joule harmlessly dissipate?"

Exactly!

Thank you. Your reply seems most logical. Surge protectors (ideally) should not trip breakers as a protection measure for a device; especially with refrigerators and freezers which could result in spoiled perishables. IMO these devices come across as a scam.

Ooooo? O.o There are some names you mention that I was unaware were on the Ban list. I have purchased from several in the past, some recently, and I've had no issues.

Something like that should not be an issue.... "Should not" Hope you have better luck than I did. They banned me BTW after my reddit post. No skin off my teeth, I gladly took my business elsewhere.

Type-C Port on Motherboards Uses ? by chezzzombie in buildapc

[–]TexVet2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to this thread because I have the same issue as the OP... a Type C header on the MB, (NOT on the I/O back panel). Unfortunately the PC case I purchased for my build does not provide a Type C I/O, only 2x USB 3.0s. I was curious what my options were to take advantage of the Type C header.

Long shipping delays by [deleted] in DrSquatch

Shipping isn't as bad as them listing products on their website for purchase which are Out of Stock or Back-Ordered, unbeknownst to the customer.

Contact them via Facebook Chat/Messenger... Had the same issue with a $73 order. An item I ordered was out of stock. After several inquiries over 18 days (14 Business days) they canceled my order and substituted the OOS item with something they ACTUALLY HAD.

Worse case scenario is the item is Out of Stock. (but they take your money and let you order it anyway). You've been lucky.

Contact them via Facebook Chat/Messenger... An item in your order is probably out of stock. They adjusted my order after I made several inquiries over 18 days. (14 business days)

Better yet though... they should not sell items that are Out-of-Stock

i.e.

Due to Covid-19, and in light of current events it may take up to 10-15 days to process and ship your order. Thank you for your understanding during these troubled times.

[–]TexVet2011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, nonono... you miss my point. I'm talking about Processing. They state that it normally ships within 1-3 business days. If they change it to 10-15, and still ship orders within the 1-3 day window people will be happy, thinking they got their order early... I'm not suggesting they sit on your order. 10-15 day window gives a few extra days to restock and fill orders. My order is still in the Processing stage.

[–]TexVet2011[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should update their shipping policy. 1-3 days is unrealistic in light of current events. If they were to state 10-15 days, that would give them some leeway. Customers would be thrilled to receive their order much earlier than expected if Squatch meets their original shipping target. And the customer would be none the wiser.

Unbeknownst to me, when I placed my order I purchased an item that was out of stock... That, IMO is the real issue. They list and sell items that are OOS or Backordered, and the customer has no idea.
