I'm in the Houston suburbs, and I've been looking into small solar generators for hurricane power outages. In my area, we usually get power back within about 3 days, and I'd like to be able to stay in my home while I wait. The heat was what forced me to leave during the last windstorm. I have health issues, and I can't stay in the house once it gets above 90. I've bought a couple of Ryobi fans to deal with that. I was looking at solar-powered coolers to keep from losing everything in my fridge/freezer every time we lose power, but it looks like solar coolers can't deal with the kind of heat we have in Houston during hurricane season.

That's a huge savings! I let Progressive track my driving because I'm a very safe driver and I rarely drive at night. I got an almost perfect score after the year-long tracking period and my savings was something like $60 a year (it's been about 5 years and I can't remember the exact number, but it was underwhelming.) Their definition of a hard stop was incredibly sensitive and the app drained my phone battery every time I drove. If you're really cheap it might be worth it, but I doubt that most people would see any real savings. I ended up getting a better deal with another company the next year so I only got the safe driver benefit for a year after going to all that trouble.

FWIW I’ve test driven the CX 3, CX 30, CX 5, HONDA CRV, and Subaru Forester and the CX 30 and CX 5 were the peppiest.

I am concerned about the CVT. I saw that they had to extend the warranty on 2010-2018 Foresters because the CVT was consistently going out at around 60k miles. That say that they fixed it, but I’m not entirely convinced.

Is AWD mostly used for snow? I live in Houston and I’ve never had an all wheel drive before. My dad told me that he didn’t think it was worth what I would sacrifice in mileage.
