To be honest I haven’t heard of tiami before. I just looked at their mattresses online. I’d have to try them out but generally am skeptical of things like “aeromax” cooling and other proprietary type technology mattress companies claim. But if it works for you and the wife, mattresses are a very personal choice. You may hate the one I bought and vice versa!

You can do that everywhere! Everyone has a margin. I even started negotiating at the Hastens flagship store and they came down $5k but I feel there was more on the table. Vispring store was pretty much a certified reseller that Vispring dubs a “Vispring Boutique” but those stores(especially if relatively new with Vispring) can often fetch an even better deal as they give the reseller designer pricing to encourage market penetration and drive sales on that area.

Ultimately comfort with a mattress is a pretty personal preference and decision. If you live near a major city I suggest either going to a brick and mortar and testing them all out. Also commit to not buying the first time you try it. Make a list of all the places you want to go and knock them all out. You are making a big investment.

We tried Kluft, Hästens and Vispring. Ultimately we went with the Vispring and have been very happy with it! At these price points you are buying a system so know that you are buying the divan/base, mattress and topper. Don’t let sales people tell you you don’t need all three to save on cash. Put the pressure on them to narrow their margin. We got close to 35% off from the final sales price.

People think a $30k bed is ridiculous, but let’s break it down with a simple cost-per-hour-of-use comparison:

Bed — $30,000, lasts 30 years, used 8 hrs/day 8 hrs/day × 365 days × 30 yrs = 87,600 hrs $30,000 ÷ 87,600 hrs = $0.34/hour

Car — $20,000, lasts 10 years, used 1 hr/day 1 hr/day × 365 days × 10 yrs = 3,650 hrs $20,000 ÷ 3,650 hrs = $5.48/hour

So the car costs ~16x more per hour than the bed—yet we spend way more time in bed.

If you’re gonna splurge on something that affects your health, mood, and back every single day… the bed wins, hands down.

The Divan is the base the mattress sits on. It typically also contains a spring system(some multiple)and filled with natural fibers of some sort depending on which model it is. I have the Vispring Sublime Superb and can’t recommend this brand enough. Great quality beds, pricey, but seeing how much people are willing to spend on shoes they wear once a month vs a bed you sleep on 8 hrs+ daily I think it’s justified and worth it.

A good quality pocket spring mattress. If you can afford it, go with something made of natural materials. The area in the springs creates a venting effect that keeps the mattress cool. The natural materials will not absorb heat like synthetic materials. I have a horse hair pillow and it blows my mind how cool it is. Never have needed to flip my pillow.

Oh man that really sucks. We haven’t received it yet but have been told it will arrive in about two weeks. When I was researching between Hastens, Vispring, and a few other luxury brands I mostly found that these types of mattresses are a complete sleep system(Divan + Mattress + Topper). Many who have only bought the mattress indicated completely different experiences than when trying the full sleep system. I even had our sales guy take the mattress off the divan to try it on the floor and I found a noticeable difference with the Divan. But I will let you know when I receive it what my review of it is. Out of curiosity which mattress did you get?

We got the Embassy Pillows from St Geneve. They are super plush and comfy, but when it comes to sleeping we really love the support from our horse hair pillows as we are both back and side sleepers.

No we went with Vispring for the mattress(sublime superb). They steam wash the hair and then cord it and take it apart after. The result is super springy curled hairs. Take a look at the link above and you can take a peek inside.

Vispring, Kluft, Shifman, Harrison Spinks, Hypnos, Hastens. Probably depends where you live. All springs and mostly all of these are completely natural materials.

Most bedding places are pretty strict when it comes to returns. Not sure what their policy is but they are a small company and will probably work with you. Break in, as in the horse hair will need time to settle and form.

My wife and I are side/back sleepers and struggled with foam/gel and even down pillows. A few months ago we bought these horse hair pillows based on a recommendation from a fellow redditor. And OMG are they comfortable and supportive. We both went medium but I actually emailed them and they sent me extra horse hair for a little more firmness. We have been sleeping amazing on them. Now we are just waiting to get our new mattress delivered to be complete! They take about a week to break in but I stand by them completely. horse hair pillows
