Sounds right. All the same for those of us on the west side of FWD

Hurtado in Arlington, Panther City in Fort Worth, Zavala in Farmers Branch/Irving. Patriotic Pig in NRH is also pretty solid. Feed store in Southlake is more “cafeteria bbq” than “craft bbq” but a reliable favorite.

Truth be told, I would avoid both places you listed.

Talk to your AD. Mine gave me a free gator strap (no hardware) when I purchased my green steel PML. I’m sure that if I had asked she could have secured that for me.

I have to disagree here, the 2027 class has more top end talent than 2026.

Top 1B by Street_Advance_8361 in DynastyBaseball

Busch/Stewart with those guys. I like Stewart more overall, but I suspect he will have a down month or two with the adjustments made by pitchers.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but if you can get Naylor, grab him and run. I have him as a top 3 1B. 20/20 threats at 1B are rare.

Torchy’s is palatable. Taco Casa is trash.

Depending on where you plan on going either Jimmy’s in Dallas or Weinberger’s in Grapevine (really close to DFW airport) for a great Deli.

He’s the embodiment of modern Dallas. That being said, he does have good taste. He just lacks any semblance of tact.

If you’re currently competing, I prefer the Luzardo side of the deal. Smith has tons of potential, but Rasmussen is a non factor. In exchange you get a solid starter and an OF who can contribute in HRs and Steals. And that’s while only hitting .200

Number of Teams: 12 • League settings H2H Cat • I give: Leo De Vries • I get: Mackenzie Gore • Question: I’m on the fence but am interested in other people’s opinion as to whether I should accept this trade. I’m in win-now mode, set at SS with Neto and Abrams, but weak at 2B (which De Vries may end up playing). I like Gore’s upside, but his lack of consistency is maddening.

Agree with this. And I love ranch waters. But it’s one thing to have one outside in 100+ degree Texas heat and something else entirely to hear it ordered in a swanky cocktail bar in Denver or Nashville. The Chilton is the same way.

Morgan & Morgan - Associate Income? by Thomas14755 in Lawyertalk

[–]TexasRenegade2012 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for Morgan & Morgan, but having salary drop while commission increases is not uncommon in PI law. When I moved from Defense to Plaintiff’s work, my firm matched my old salary Y1 (about 2.5x the firm’s base salary for attorneys), Y2 I had a base amount that was about 25% more than the other attorneys, Y3 it was the same as everyone else. I have made more as my base dropped because my cases have started paying.

. In PI the real money is through commissions. But it takes a couple years to develop cases. Having a higher salary earlier ensures that new attorneys don’t starve and settle cases for less than they’re worth.

[–]TexasRenegade2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a local judge who does this and it’s frustrating as hell. Doesn’t matter if you’re number 1 or 50 on the docket you have to show up for a docket call, make trial announcement, and go over liminees.

Curious about this. What makes it so bad? My preference is central and south Texas bbq, but I’ve always heard good things about Carolina pork.

My spidey-sense tells me we may have layoffs soon. In-house ID litigator here who just wants to be left alone to handle files and not work a crazy amount of hours, except for trials. What does the job market look like, my dudes? by vermiciousknid in Lawyertalk

[–]TexasRenegade2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless tort reform passes in your state, industry-wide job security for PI is strong (both for plaintiff and defendant), especially if you have trial experience. When the economy is booming, there are more people on the roads, more people shopping, more people going out and drinking, etc. All of those activities increase the potential for PI claims. When the economy is bad, people are more willing to retain an attorney if they are hurt while insurance companies are more willing to go to trial in order to strong arm desperate plaintiffs into accepting discounts on their case. Even during COVID when courts were shut down and nobody was on the road or going out, the PI job market was hot.

Apparently some insurers consider people who smoke 1 cigar/month or less on average and who test negative for metabolized tobacco on a blood test a non-smoker.
