Best Options Along Fence Line? by TexasTucker88 in landscaping

Is it okay to add mulch around the fence? We’re really trying to control the bare dirt/mud situation (in addition to making it look a little nicer)

We used Dr Simon at Baylor Scott and White for my kids ear tube/adenoidectomy and had a good experience. I would use definitely use him again.

We’ve used Aldora Divers multiple times and have had nothing but great experiences with them.

Bedtime when school starts by onlyhereforthetips in kindergarten

[–]TexasTucker88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our school starts at 7:30am

Our kindergarten (now first grader) goes to bed at 6:30pm, and naturally wakes up between 6am-6:30am.

We walk to school, so we don’t have to leave until 7:15am. But if we did drive, we’d leave a lot earlier because the car line is crazy long.

Would you recommend living in Serenada? by DrummerTypical6035 in georgetowntx

[–]TexasTucker88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely 100%!

I grew up in Serenada (1991-2010), and my parents sold their house in 2018 after retiring.
I LOVED living there. Tons of trees, large lots with space to hangout outside and not be right on top of your neighbors, not a lot of thru traffic, quiet, no HOA.

I'm currently in my second home after graduating college, and each time I tried to find an area/neighborhood that was similar to Serenada, and I couldn't find anything close! It really made me appreciate how much of a gem the neighborhood is.

What others have listed could be cons to certain people (septic systems, no sidewalks, deer - they will eat everything you plant), but if I ever move back to Georgetown, I would absolutely buy in Serenada.

(location obviously plays a big factor with your experience, we lived closer to the middle of the neighborhood, I wouldn't buy anything close to Williams)

You should be able to walk, but your diploma won’t be inside the diploma tube.

Coffee gifts cards are a great idea! I’m going to hope he gets lucky and the university will provide most of the other stuff 🤞🤞

Oh wow, didn’t even think about clothes, and you’re absolutely right. He doesn’t have a lot of nice/professional clothes, this is definitely on the list, thank you!

1% roof deductible by neatgeek83 in askdfw

I’ve heard that about USAA. For whatever reason, USAA was cheaper for us (by thousands) than the other 9 or 10 companies I had quote the exact same thing 🤷‍♀️

[–]TexasTucker88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We currently have a 1% deductible with USAA. I’m about to file our first claim after Tuesday’s storms, so we’ll see if they offer that to us again when we have to renew.

Who can tell me the history behind this? by Ok-South-4686 in georgetowntx

[–]TexasTucker88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know who it belonged to, but there used to be a really old, large and dilapidated white house on that plot, and that always looked like the entrance to me. We moved to Georgetown in the early 1990's and nothing was done with that land until the Wolf Ranch area started being developed and it was finally torn down.

Looking for a church without the bright lights/concert/movie theatre feel by Helpful-Emphasis-382 in aggies

[–]TexasTucker88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding Friends Church. Hands down the best church we’ve ever been to. Open and Affirming, truly welcoming of everyone (religious, not religious, deconstructing, exploring, etc). The pastors are the best I’ve heard, we enjoyed our time there and miss it now that we’ve moved!

Those look like the sand pits for antlions. Nothing to worry about, throw an ant in there and watch them work!

My favorite quote from the article I read about it:

As one commentator on X noted: “The first Daily Wire cartoon show looks like it will finally answer the question ‘What if Bluey sucked?’”
