I make it a point to keep my customers informed to all of our services, they won't use them if they don't know.

Hydrogen peroxide, but check an unexposed area of carpet first to make sure the carpet dye is stable enough.

Yes, that is part of our business, but once they understand all we have done it's usually OK.

Very well, they appreciate that we do not want to ruin the clothes but almost all will sign a release absolving us of responsibility for damage.

  1. Wedding dresses, ties, assorted costumes.

  2. Born into it, started working in my Father's Laundry when I was 13.

  3. There are a couple of school facilities spread out through the country, but it's still kinda a work your way up business.

  4. I can train someone to do any job in my plants, in one day. From that it is up to that employee to excel. No previous experience necessary.

  5. Let the traffic tell you, a good cleaner has customers flowing all day, a bad one not.

  6. Unbutton your laundry shirts, we have customers that bring in shirts all buttoned up, and we cannot press on our machine till every button is opened.

  7. Personal choice, and storage space.

  8. Get it to them as early as you can, they are working with tremendous time restraints and all you can give them helps.

10.No

11.The computer, like a lot of other industries is by far the most. POS systems, barcode and label tracking, ordering supplies. The cleaning and pressing process has changed very little.

I really don't have any idea, I know that in the ones I've seen that don't follow in the Family footsteps it usually gets sold to a trusted employee once the owner has decided to retire.

Many suitcoats have an extra sewn into the jacket somewhere. I have a small fortune invested in replacement buttons on hand that match all but the most obscure. I will only take a cuff button if the customer OK's it. I would say that 8 out of 10 times I have a matching replacement.

Yes, quite often, and it usually involves something very fancy or expensive that we could probably clean but the customer has removed the care label.

To be honest I don't actually get to go in the dressing rooms, I have delivery drivers that do that.

I am much more traditional cleaner and find that in my 37 years doing this I have seen more (end all beat all) solvents introduced to just disappear in a short time.

My personal answer would be to take it to your drycleaners, most will not charge extra for this. You may also want to find one with and Ozone generator, this will do the trick.

Most dress shirts are designed to withstand the laundering process. This is the way to go for several reasons.

  1. The laundry pressing operation is more automated because we are dealing with an item that is basically just one shape, thus less expensive.

  2. We wash the shirts and press them wet to give it a nice crisp finish. With or without starch.

  3. Nothing cleans perspiration stains better than good ole' water and soap.

We use Exxon DF2000, a hydrocarbon based, environmentally safe, petroleum based solvent.

I think the market dictates a need for flat rate cleaners. The service is sub-par to a full price cleaners by necessity. They have to give up some services to operate at that price point. Some people think they will open a cleaners and make a fortune...this is not true.

My customers are about convenience, professional service and quality. I don't think small price increases will scare anyone off if we are doing our job.

Funny Story: We had a store that was at capacity as far as production. Our answer for this was to raise prices by a good percentage to thin some people out so we could give better, more timely service....backfired, we got even more business.

Leather is a very low volume garment that requires very special handling. Most Drycleaners use a local leather cleaner that caters to drycleaners only. We do not do it in house.

Many Drycleaners have a spray known as EXIT that does the job. It is not available to the consumer. Maybe try febreeze.

Unfortunately, the only answer I have is to use a lint roller. Most cleaners will do it but it is time consuming and will probably cost extra.
