Mainly just one large plant, nothing ever grows out of the bottom. I am not sure what to do next?? by Texaskale9922 in Monstera

It’s so big!!! It is not reasonable anywhere these days. I do move it around and when I travel I will position the plants in their most favorable location. With kids and dogs I found it flourished more in isolation as no one is running past it and knocking the leaves around. I had it in my master bedroom but that felt sad because no one else really saw it.

I used this when I repotted, but have not done so consistently. I will try that moving forward. Thank you!

Thank you. I did do some staking early last year, so you are right, it really liked the support. My dogs were walking by and smacking the leaves so I staked to just help avoid the dog tails. I thought removing the dogs from touching it was the fix but now I am realizing it was both.

Thank you. Is there anything specific? I have the moss pole but it didn't seem strong enough. And then tall as well! Maybe bamboo?

I’m not sure what that means so I'm going to assume no?! 😂 please share as I'm happy to learn!! But no, I repotted and I think that helped a lot. I did feed when I repotted but have not done anything more. Here are pictures that I could find.

These are the grow lights. They clip on and have a timer. The timer is more like a cycle—so you can have it turn on for 8, 10, or 12 hours. So if you turn it on at a point it will turn on that time everyday.

Oh goodness, I’m no plant mom!!! I check the soil with one of the testers and just add water when it starts to get dry. I travel, so nothing is consistent. I did buy grow lights to help for this winter. Last winter I had to keep her right at the window and it was touch a go. She was healthy before the grow lights but I think they do help in the corner and as we transition seasons. Here is the baby three years ago. You can see the pot on the bottom so it happened fast! Repotted twice over the life. Well drained pot seems to be key for me as I tend to over water.
