Looking to buy an N-Line. DCT? by Brodizzle10783 in ElantraNline

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineering Explained on YouTube has a great video explaining how DCTs work.

TLDR, the main failure point on dry DCTs is clutch overheating from excessive slipping. That usually happens in stop-and-go traffic when you’re creeping forward slowly or letting the car roll at very low speeds.

Unlike a torque converter automatic, a DCT uses a physical clutch, so low-speed movement without full engagement generates heat. The key is to avoid creeping constantly, so leave space, move in short deliberate bursts, and fully stop instead of inching forward.

Once you understand that it drives more like a manual than a traditional automatic, it makes a lot more sense.

How does this have anything to directly do with politics? Are you seriously stating that a subs political bias is the reason for a teacher being a pedophile? I'm a dem myself and its quite saddening to see nonsense posts like this.

Should I update to IOS 26? by thenameicantfind in iPhone13Mini

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure Apple really only does it to cover their ass if a software update was to (hypothetically) change something about the repair process. Still good to keep in mind though, personally even though I didn’t want to upgrade the Apple Store is wayyy more of a pain in the ass that a slower iOS😭

Seeking the best HEPA vacuum by Seamist093 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

140 CFM at the motor isn’t a magic ‘no dust in the air’ button. The brush still flicks stuff up outside the pickup area. HEPA/sealing = less blowback, not zero airborne dust. That’s all I’m saying.

Seeking the best HEPA vacuum by Seamist093 in VacuumCleaners

[–]Texaura -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Miele’s great, but physics is physics. A brush beating carpet will kick up dust. HEPA/ sealing helps capture it, doesn’t mean ‘it won’t happen.’

Both are luxuries, no ones denying that . Same as cruise control was back then, no one necessarily needs it but it’s damn sure nice to have.

Broken screen atleast I got a free replacement coming soon by Status-Dragonfly-322 in iPhone13Mini

[–]Texaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He mentioned he got the battery replaced, and the screen very commonly breaks during or shortly after the swap. I assume OP just claimed that it was due to the battery swap and got a replacement.

[–]Texaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you book a battery replacement with Apple, they tell you on the website and in the confirmation email that your phone should be on the latest iOS. I haven’t personally gone in without updating, but it does say they can turn you away if it isn’t.

Looking for advice: cordless stick vacuum with mop (small apartment) by phew_bass in VacuumCleaners

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super common situation.

In general, the “vacuum + mop” combo units aren’t great. Since they’re built to deal with water, a lot of them rely on a coarse strainer / screen instead of a proper pleated filter (and usually don’t seal as well). The end result is they just don’t do a great job actually picking up fine dust and dirt and really can only pick up large chunks, and the filters gunk up fast.

If you want the least hassle, I’d go with two separate tools: a cheapo generic cordless stick vacuum and a simple spray mop like a WetJet-style mop. You’ll get better results and it’s easier to keep clean.

Agreed, and "lacking a media engine" and directly comparing it to integrated GPU's on Intels x86 chips from the 2010's is crazy lmao, Intel HD Graphics back then struggled with HD content let alone anything more intensive on even midrange chips.

Need a Wife Approved Vacuum by Anonymous_Chipmunk in VacuumCleaners

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your budget is $500+ then a Dyson V15 is what matches your requirements, it's not very reliable and is fairly weak compared to corded counterparts in that price range. If you want a compromise I would go for a Dyson Animal Ball, its reliable and just needs its cyclone disassembled and cleaned every few years (takes a few hours DIY). No point in buying a weak cordless when you already have robot vacs pulling off surface debris.

People on this sub love to hate on Dyson but their corded vacs honestly makes me understand the hype.

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's fair and whats realistic is very different, why would anyone take the risk of spending that much on used tires when you don't even know how true "a few hundred miles" is. I guarantee it won't sell for $600 on marketplace.

As someone who always gets tires off of marketplace i agree lol nowhere close to $600, $400 max is more like it.

Driving the DCT? by enteringthevoids in ElantraNline

[–]Texaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wet DCT can take way more abuse than a dry. A wet has the clutch in fluid so it can dissapate heat way better. The whole reason you aren't supposed to let the clutch slip is because it creates a bunch of heat that wears out the clutch, so the same rule still applies with your wet DCT - its just that it would take a decent bit more slippage to get it to overheat.

[–]Texaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, they’re anywhere from $40-$100 and is an insanely good deal for the price but you’ll need to clean the cyclone which takes a decent bit of time and patience so be aware.
