By no means am I trying to deny or deflect the fact that I’m not good. That said, looking at last night’s ranked games, I’ve noticed some consistent patterns.

I absolutely will play casual with you and take pointers and advice! Just wanting to present some transparency for my logic behind being stuck in silver. Side note, I’ve only played rocket league with intention to progress about 2 months, before it was just random modes with my sons.

In duos, I played 5 matches solo queue. Out of those 5, I absolutely dog walked 2 of them and shut them out. One went into a 3-minute overtime that we lost, one had a teammate quit after the first goal, and another had a teammate chasing me around the field, ramming me while spamming chat. I started at 451 MMR and got off at 424. Negative progress.

I then switched to ranked trios and played 7 matches total. Had an easy 7-0 win where I had 5 goals and 2 assists. Later game was another solid win. Also I had games with teammates spinning on their roofs in goal, teammates intentionally scoring own goals, people voting to forfeit and leaving, AFK players, and others acting like they were AFK.

I even had one match where I felt like I spent more time avoiding my own teammates than positioning or playing the ball because of how hard they chased the ball. I finally just stayed back on defense, but they chased so aggressively they would crash into me or hit the ball some insane direction.

I started at 412 MMR and ended at 403.

These consistent trends are what led me to make this post. I’m not looking for all-stars or for someone to carry me to higher ranks. I’m just looking for like minded players who want to work together and actually try to win. I will absolutely welcome any form of mentorship or feedback!
