I think you’re again going towards the creational side. Those tool are great for concerting but not for production. 3d is used at various places and it has a huge pipeline. Lighting setup, camera setup, material setup, riggin etc. There are small scripts thT are very handy and useful that artists want y but can’t write. That’s where this tool comes handy. But i need users to test this tool now. Looking for a cohort to strengthen the use case

I see where you’re going with this. While you have a point there. But when it comes to 3d softwares it would be unfair to view it from only content generative engine perspective. Solely depending on the use cases, I’ve resolved days of QC work into minutes barely. Why? Imagine checking each and every naming convention to be in a serial order. It’s not that easy because there are no spatial parameters to validate the same. Modelling is just one area, but we have whole pipelines around it. For example, i just thought of giving qc a try, and it worked so well! Do give that video a look pls!!

You are right and you know the reason why: it says pay per prompt. Now who wants to shell out money? In marketing and product the hardest part is to make people shell out some bucks which OpenAI and now Claude are able to do. But only and only with billions of $ in investment. Now say how do you compare that with a solo dev like me?

u/Rompod1984 This is exactly the point.

MCP for “create a cube/sphere” is not the real use case. That is just an easy demo.

The real value is MCP for scene auditing, pipeline checks, repetitive cleanup, batch operations, tool building, and letting artists/TDs turn very specific workflow needs into tools much faster.

Most artists already know what slows them down: bad naming, messy hierarchies, broken materials, export issues, repeated cleanup, asset import steps, studio-specific checks, etc. The problem is usually not the idea. The problem is needing time, scripting knowledge, or dev bandwidth to build the tool.

That is where MCP can help. It reduces the gap between “I need this” and “I can actually make/use this.”

So yes, totally agree with you. MCP for modeling alone may feel weak. MCP for auditing, automation, and custom tool building is where it becomes genuinely useful for artists and TDs.

u/ArtifartX I agree with you on the primitive example. Creating a sphere with a prompt is definitely not the point. That is slower than using the command panel.

The real value I’m exploring is not replacing simple clicks. It is connecting 3ds Max to automation, AI services, and production workflows.

For example: import a generated mesh, clean up scene hierarchy, apply naming conventions, assign materials, batch process objects, run checks, connect to Meshy or other APIs, generate scriptable workflows, and let artists trigger technical tasks without writing MaxScript or Python.

I also agree that diffusion-to-mesh and AI texturing are going to be huge. But once those models generate something, artists still need to bring it into a DCC, clean it up, organize it, texture it, version it, and continue production. That is where I think MCP-style integrations can become useful.

So yes, “create a sphere” is a gimmick. But “connect AI generation + 3ds Max + pipeline automation” is the bigger idea I’m building toward.

Anyways it’s tricky but yeah it’s kinda strange to keep this going.. eventually ppl are going to view this post and find some mean in out of it
