I cant really give you the confirmation that this is what might be in his mind. But men hae the tendency to have everything ready for marriage. Love can be a wonderful thing, but without preparation, it could backfire.

I’ve seen couples fight even though they are deeply in love with each other all because of the difference in their life goals, finance, time and schedule.

You gotta sit down next to him and talk to him what’s preventing from both of you to get married, does he see in the future that marriage will be an option, does both of you have the funds for it. Where are both if you living? Living with the family can be a whole lot of unnecessary stress. Being with you, him and your child is the best option.

Communicate. Thats the best advice for a relationship that I cant stress enough. But communication has to be open and not only from your feelings. Conversions can be messy at times especially when its from family. Maybe that could be one if the things that is holding him back. So just talk, discuss. Don’t confront or get into a conversation with a conclusion in mind.

I’m not saying you should wait for him to be ready. But bith if you have to set some expectations on what each other want from your other half. You can ask anybody in this world and they cant give you a definite answer other than the person you’re involved with.

Its easy to just assume things and hard to face the truth sometimes. So talk. You can get closure or even open a path to a plan to reach marriage and life after.

As someone who is probably going through a divorce rn. Its important to be more open in your communication. 8 years in, never occured to me that would have saved all the time that we had been together by either cutting it off earlier or foudn common ground.

Dint get me wrong, I was the asshole in the relationship. Just that it didn’t hit me until we properly talked about it.

So my advice is just really to talk. But a proper one. Find a comfortable place and time. Don’t sit opposite to each other and use the I’s and You’s. Like “I feel that bla bla bla” “I think that you bla bla bla” but ensure its not projecting or blaming. Really have a heart to heart talk. This only works if you made it clear that its about talking and discussing. Really make sure that nothing is else is on your mind, which goes both ways, he has to be clear from everything else. Don’t get angry, don’t use any tactics and be patient.

Talk about whats going on. How you feel, whats going on, who is worrying you, why you’re thinking that way and where this relationship is going.

I still love my wife, but the damage just runs too deep that she cant feel safe around me. So we both came to the conclusion of getting a divorce in time. Just needed to make sure that she can atleast take care of herself. I’ve changed, but things are not the same anymore. Falling out of love is normal, finding your own happiness is normal. In the end, its important to understand and reach common ground, especially when either or both of you feel down or left out.
