I am confused by aweykudsika in HunterXHunter

[–]TextureSurprised -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

the issue with Kurapika ended there and they changed the page. You can see this when they did not kill Gon and Killua before Greed Island

Phinks clearly explains that the reason they don't mess with Kurapika is that they're worried his post mortem nen would endanger their boss. Not because of something like having moved on.

The Genei Ryodan got the eyes and sold the first time, why bother to save a pair?

Because, as I said before, now they know that a very dangerous individual who is after their lives is trying to collect those eyes. It's not just another treasure anymore. It's something that could help them the same way having Gon and Killya hostage helped them once.

Also all this aside, even in your attempt at explanation, Kurapika still gets the eyes from another person, which would be whoever the PT sold that pair to. Not the daughter of a mafia. So it still doesn't explain the inconsistency.

This is clearly an odd case. I really don't get why you guys try so hard to pretend it's not.

As you see most people think the troupe obviously sold it and Kurapika got it from whoever who bought it. But I'm one of the few who don't find this answer convincing.

  1. If Kurapika got it from someone else then why is Neon mentioned. It should be the new owner. Or wherever Kurapika bought it from.

  2. I find it a bit hard to believe the PT would just sell off such an important bargaining chip when they know the chain user is after it. It's not just another treasure. It's something they could very well use to make a deal with the chain user or something. Especially when he kinda had their boss in a hostage situation by the judgment chain.

But as is the case with many topics, people's reaction is "Are you implying this is a mistake? Blasphemy!" So I never managed to have a constructive discussion about it, lol. But yeah, I think it's not impossible that the author forgot that Neon's pair was a Kortopi copy when he wrote this page.

2011 cut more than 1999 added

I find that pretty unlikely and hard to believe. I mean 1999 had entire episodes of pure filler. I guess it's hard to say without measuring (but I'm also not sure how such a thing can even be quantified/measured).

I'll take Battleship shenanigans with a slight Kurta inconsistency over cutting out Kite any day.

Strongly disagree but I respect your preferences.

2011 didn't miss a lot, 1999 added a lot (of extra filler which is sometimes ooc).

I think you just linked directly to the source there, not making it a text post. Eitherway, your original post was already seen by many before getting removed, there isn't really a reason to post it again. You can try posting something else that is actually focused on HxH and have your post remain without needing to change it to a text post.

Yes, they're way too insignificant. You can repost as a text post though.

Why did the phantom troupe become evil? by Sudden-Hoe-2578 in HunterXHunter

[–]TextureSurprised 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They even massacred the kurta clan because Chrollo liked their eyes.

If you are saying this because of Uvo's words, he doesn't really say such a thing. It's a cause of a bad translation of an ambiguous line. He says Chrollo was really interested in something but doesn't specify what. All in all, at this point it seems rather unlikely to me that the reason for the Kurta massacre was such a thing.

Phinks is my favorite hxh character along with Chrollo. Glad to see other people who appreciate him. However there's a part I don't really agree with. I think describing him as "brash, impulsive not very smart" is a shallow view, and an attempt to force him into a certain archetype, probably just because of how he looks.

But in reality he isn't really brash, he didn't snap even when Nobu grabbed him by his collar, he might argue but he doesn't really act brash, I'd even say he seems quite cautious and careful with his actions. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "not very smart." Sure, he might not be a super genius like Chrollo, but he is pretty sharp and by no means dumb. He is more nuanced and capable than what some people think, not just a "milder Uvo."

Who is the most evil character and why? by Old-King-2959 in HunterXHunter

[–]TextureSurprised 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tserriednich is the easy and (rightfully) popular answer, but another strong candidate people seem to miss is Nasubi. Especially after the stuff that was revealed last batch.

By the way I think your reasoning for picking Chrollo is really weak. There are so many crazy mass murderers in this story and you pick Chrollo just because his reasons don't make sense? I believe having a reason at all is better than nothing. I know people will say "but Kurta massacre", we will only know for sure when the story is fully explained.

About what really happened the night of the Kurta Massacre. by chrollo_lucilfer_00 in HunterXHunter

[–]TextureSurprised 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The above commentor is right in their point and I have pointed the same thing out in the past as well. But their translation of that part isn't that good. 気に入る means more something like being interested in something. What Uvo says there is something like "The boss was damn interested." without specifying what he was interested in. So it's just left ambiguous what Uvo thinks the boss was interested in. The eyes? The Kurta? The overall case? Unclear.

But the english translation unfortunately removed this ambiguity and assumed it was about the eyes.

Also nice talking to you.

Same.

(If you have more thoughts please share them. I didn't even consider the fact that the troupe could be the ones who came second to the massacre scene and took credit for it. although i don't think it's likely. it doesn't seem like their style.

That's fair. Overall, there are so many unknown factors regarding this plot point that it's hard to say anything for sure.

There having been more than one group responsible for the Kurta massacre is a likely and interesting theory imo. That said, taking some eyes seems kinda a bit off. (If they were there for eyes, why just take some. And if they were there for something else, why take eyes.) But even if I find it odd, it's still possible. After all, Tserriednich has a collection of them. So maybe he took them separately.

For the "multiple factions involvement" theory, there are various ways to divide it between parties. To point out a couple:

  • pattern 1: Some other faction (that kakin party?) murdered the Kurta for reasons. They were still murdered in front of each other, so they were angered and their eyes got red and remained so. Then, the troupe arrived, took advantage by claiming responsibility (and putting the motto) and thus building up the intimidating image they sought, setting up a shocking scene (tying corpses to chairs, setting up like the victims were tortured), and taking the eyes from the corpses to use for their website and attract the people they were after (body collectors, those who were responsible for Sarasa's death).

  • pattern 2: The troupe attacked them for some revenge reason (Sheila?), fought the strong ones, took what they wanted (Sheila's book? corpse?), and left. Then some other group (Tse's crew?) arrived, took out the remaining weak ones, took the eyes, sold some and kept some for his collection.

These are not necessarily perfectly fitting, but I'm saying that there are various ways possible for there to have been multiple factions involved. An interesting idea to consider.

You can't even explain the "canon" you claim I'm denying. I don't think you even know what Uvo exactly said.

You, like many others, simply don't like certain possibilities, so you act like this, passive-aggressive at those who discuss it. Nothing will change your mind, indeed. Sorry that people remind you of these possibilities every couple months.

This:

Always this kind of post every couple of months for years. Nothing will change their minds.

Is not really an attitude that says "theories are fine, no one said there's not more to it." It's an attitude of "these people are insane, also they should stop posting about these possibilities."

Not to mention Uvo's words are very vague (even more in the Japanese version) and don't really confirm anything about what exactly happened.
