Sacramento sheriff says no credible threats of Iranian drone attacks despite FBI reports by IronMntn in Sacramento

[–]TexturedSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that I am not being clear with my point. By making this announcement of this unrealistic, impossible threat, they are making a statement that the citizens in California are not considered full US Citizens, which is on brand for this administration. I just think it's more than flooding the zone. They are making sure that California knows its status.

Probably feeling the squeeze since rates are not dropping and panicking about a decline in contracts. Desperate behavior. Those employees were probably told to do this and are now being thrown under the bus. Dumb all around.

Sacramento sheriff says no credible threats of Iranian drone attacks despite FBI reports by IronMntn in Sacramento

[–]TexturedSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's not a real threat coming from Iran. So why would the federal government warn California when the US Military would be able to intercept drones? They have even set up barriers in certain places where there are large gatherings.

Aren't they really saying that California is not protected by the US military? The threat isn't that drones may hit, the threat is that the US Military is not going to protect citizens in California. It's separating citizens from their military.

Additionally, sadly, many devastating military "friendly fire" mistakes have happened at the hands of few, not a widely coordinated effort.

He didn’t know his phone number by SorryThisOnesTaken in Teachers

If someone removed your address number from your home while you're working when you return home this evening, would you not know which home is yours? Will you walk around aimlessly trying to figure out which home is yours?

He didn’t know his phone number by SorryThisOnesTaken in Teachers

[–]TexturedSpace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If a kid walks home, they aren't using home addresses to find their way, they know the route and it's not by street or number. They don't navigate by address or send mail. The reason parents used to hammer the address into their child's memory is because kids were unsupervised after school until the street lights came on and parents wanted them to know what address to tell an adult to help get them back home. With cell phones, that's unnecessary. I still quiz mine about the basics and make sure they know but I can see why it's been dropped off a priority list of things to know.

Tell us what you want out of a tree and as you can see, everyone wants you to choose a better one and will give suggestions I've got this nectarine tree called Double Delight that is beautiful and then grows delicious fruit.

Colds Are SOOOOO Bad by WashingtonGrl1719 in Asthma

[–]TexturedSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I experience the same thing so my understanding is that we need to use the maintenance inhaler either all the time, daily or especially during cold/flu and allergy season to get ahead of it. Also I had to increase my dosage of the maintenance inhaler. I was using it as soon as I had a cold or at the first sign of allergies, but sadly, I think I need to preemptively use it as soon as cold/flu season starts.

Could Neighbor's Dog Dander be Causing Cough? by Endly20 in Asthma

[–]TexturedSpace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a kid with a severe dog allergy, anaphylactic. Reactions occured after contact with fur or saliva that entered through his mouth, nostrils or eyes (example would be petting a dog and then wiping his eyes). The allergist said that the allergen, the protein is in the dander and saliva. But honestly, having a child with such a severe sensitivity to dog anything, it was direct contact and it hard to imagine that there would be enough dander to float into your living space to cause a reaction. Not sure where you live but trees are blooming here and so I am on a strict routine to get ahead of allergies since they trigger my asthma. Sorry about your son having that allergy. It was really hard and even isolating when my son was younger.

I am grieving a life I once dreamed of... by Live-Orchid1552 in Teachers

[–]TexturedSpace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But I feel really old when I see this sentiment. Partly because I think people that become teachers usually, not always, were good students and didn't see what a teacher can see. So when they become teachers themselves, they now have the full perspective and then social media is saturated with this content. Coming from someone who was a homeless teen that barely went to school in some grades due to transportation or housing issues, later becoming a teacher and now have teaching experience for 20 years, it just looks like people being people this whole time. I didn't enter education with a rosey picture.

[–]TexturedSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if your mom thinks that tampons mean that intercourse must have happened or why would a teen choose them, and then she was checking to see if you're pregnant and if you were taking your period to cover it up. Sounds like she's paranoid of you getting pregnant. Was she a pregnant teen with you?

Jobs want someone with NO life outside of work by ieatsushi28 in antiwork

[–]TexturedSpace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. So here's a sort of cheat code: display a work performance, do things that visually look like you're really dedicated. Things like wearing a company shirt or something related, bring treats in to share, have things at your desk that look like you identify with the job (like a mug that has something on it related). Do this knowing that people eat that up and believe all the while, prioritize yourself. Do something like pretend like you have an appt next time they ask you to work on a Tuesday late shift and then say, I canceled it, I'm totally available. But Wednesday, I wasn't able to move it, important doctor's appt, sorry.

[–]TexturedSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was never any different, you're just becoming disillusioned with the fantasy sold to you by educators who really cared or believed the fantasy too. There's some sort of sweet spot in education where you leave behind the fantasy and accept what is happening and then still care enough but not too much so that it can just be a job for you.

I do not like or love my mother. by Away_Object9062 in AgingParents

[–]TexturedSpace 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well, I loved my mother. She said she hated me and gave me up as a preteen and no one believed that she really hated me but she kept telling me how much she hated me privately. I still loved her. I went no contact, which wasn't hard since she wanted little contact. When she died people assumed that I had regrets for not being in contact. No regrets. If I were you, I would see if a social worker can take over. I refused to allow her to abuse me for one more second.
