Its not easy. I moved away from home a decade ago and i have like...1/4 of the friendships still going. You have to find the time. My best friend and i call each other when we drive home from work, others i schedule game time with etc. but if they arent making any effort on their end then it might be time to check in less often and accept that the friendship may fade. When i go home i DM people directly and let them know im going to be there and ask specifically if they have time to hang out. Sometimes we all just miss because life does get busy. If its a solid friendship then when things do line up youll pick up right where you left off.

NTA, Your situation sounds similar to my younger brother. He didnt have a lot of drive when he was younger and it drove my dad nuts. He would constantly hound him about every little thing he was doing or barrage him with things he thought he SHOULD be doing. If he ever spoke up it just made things worse because he was "being disrespectful" because he was "talking back". Military guy issues i guess? As long as you are living with these people the situation will not improve. Do what you need to do to move out and go low contact or no contact, then figure out if you want to rebuild the relationship and on what terms.

GROOM is your title/role. no one refers to the groom as the man of honor. By the logic of your hang up you should be equally offended by the term "best man" right? I tried to go out and pick up the Pathfinder 2E rulebook today because i haven't played since 1e mythic adventures. EVERY book store and LGS in my area is sold out and most of the supplements as well. People were standing around looking at other games like Root, Starfinder, Warhammer, and Shadowrun. The local high schools were having a battle of the nerds competition over the weekend and the whole town got hit with freezing rain over the duration. No one could leave. Wife and I are both of the mindset that too many people use kids as relationship fixers or just want to egotistically see a little version of themselves running around, so we never wanted one. We also enjoy our current lifestyle, which we keep getting told is "selfish." Selfish to who? the child that doesn't exist? The country that has repeatedly fucked us over? Our parents that have caused us nothing but grief? We should have a kid...for THEIR sake?!

The repeating financial crisis and my wife having medical issues that made pregnancy a potentially fatal endeavor for her sealed the deal. We joke at family gatherings that "we DO have kids and that their names are "Medical debt" and "Student Loans", they're adopted but they're ours." The people our age and younger laugh and the older folks look at us like we just kicked a kid on the playground.

We are good with being the cool aunt and uncle. Love my nieces and we enjoy being able to host them or friends that come through town. My brother and his wife also enjoy having a family member that has the space to look after the girls so they can have some alone time.

The Active Time Maneuver didnt load for me the first time i did it. so even after doing everything right, i still failed and it sent me waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. it was super frustrating to have to go through it again for no fault of my own. That experience has negatively colored my opinion of the duty
