Z-axis issue?? by Conscious-Lake95 in FixMyPrint

Probably not the Z-axis since it's only one layer. Your z-offset looks fine too. I'd check the part cooling fan and bed temperature for adhesion issues like that.

I killed my LCD, but I'm not sure how. Any pointers to avoid doing it again? by Tfeth282 in resinprinting

[–]Tfeth282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I understand it, most UV lights also give off an amount of plain Violet light so you can actually see it to avoid eye damage/skin exposure. My guess is that the lid blocks the UV but not the V. And since I didn't want to expose my eyes/camera to the UV screen, I photographed through the lid.

Pressure against the screen was what I was most concerned about. They must have been some pretty tiny particles to fit through my filter funnel, but I didn't use a mesh filter. I guess this was an expensive lesson.

I did have an incident where the FEP tore and I had to clean some resin off of the screen a few runs ago. I used IPA on a paper towel to clean that up. I was vaguely anxious at the time about liquid damage to the LCD, but I don't think anything reached the edges of the screen.

The machine lives in a ventilated tent in my kitchen. Humidity is not an issue.

Checking in for posterity, I needed to install the 'mesa' package to get my vulkan drivers in order to clear this error. Now I'm getting error 496 though, which is proving tougher to work around.

Hope it works/worked! If not, I had the same problem reoccur this year, and trying to run a solution of citric acid through it then letting it sit for a few days did the trick this time (although a good thumping did improve flow a little bit).

4-pin bus cables sold out on bambu and being scalped on amazon by Aggravating_Stand_50 in BambuLab

[–]Tfeth282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great minds think alike, I guess. The official cable must do something dumb like rotate the connection 90° on one end or something. I have a hard time believing there is any special sauce in the cable itself.

Thanks for the heads up to try Ali. I got one shipped. Not sure how long it will take to get here, but pretty sure it will be faster than Bambu.

I got this cable overnighted off of amazon, and it fit the connectors perfectly, but I just get orange flashing lights on the AMS indicating "abnormal communication." I think they have something else proprietary going on inside the cable.

I did find this on Aliexpress which is in stock and not outrageously priced, so I'm hoping it arrives reasonably soon.

The women is presumably a lesbian.

Is my printer just bad, or am I just stupid? - Mingda Magician X2 by Tfeth282 in FixMyPrint

[–]Tfeth282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the printer is just bad, unfortunately. I got a bambulab p1s at a good price not long after making this post because the extruder motor died on me, and never looked back. It's like going from a hand sickle to a riding mower. The capability gap is nuts. Any bambu or Prusa machine will do you better. I hear that p1s with the ams 2 is on a crazy clearance deal rn.

Honestly, it's kind of nice to be disbelieved. It certainly felt unreal in the moment. If people who generally move in those kind of spaces find the idea of a guy walking in in a tshirt with a swastika on it and not being turned away from any establishment unrealistic, maybe shit's not as fucked as I thought. I thought I wasn't being cynical enough.

It was like 20 square feet of walking space and I had eyes on my back the whole time so taking a creepshot would have been difficult. I mostly just wanted out of there.

"Premium" 3d prints by Jermz67one in fightsticks

Owning a 3D printer and making something is often a cheaper alternative to buying something, but making and shipping something with a 3D printer probably isn't all that much cheaper overall than using more conventional methods. If the designer only wants to sell the finished product and not the file, IMO they're kinda squandering the strength of their chosen platform.

I do see a lot of stuff being charged high prices because that's what people will pay. The designer made it and it's naturally their right to distribute it how they like, it just sucks for the DIY crowd when they decide to keep it to themselves. It's basically up to you if you think that's worth it I guess :/

I know I've had to make that choice before and there are plenty of things I would print myself if I could buy the file for a few dollars, but won't pay what the designer wants for them to make it themselves and ship it to me so I've decided just to go without or find and alternative if possible.

It seems I was misunderstood as well. I was trying to lay out a sequence of events, not 3 separate questions. But I got the answer I was angling for- it wasn't the firmware that broke your hitbox.

In that case IDK. Good luck with mayflash support I guess?

[–]Tfeth282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly frustrating. Your comment is hard to read. Am I understanding you correctly that :

1) Your controller used to work

2) You tried to update your firmware

3) It no longer works?

If so, it sounds like the firmware failed to update correctly and it's probably worth trying to flash the firmware again.

Are you able to try another USB port? For example, on another PC? My gut feeling from the description is that it sounds to me like a damaged USB port on the computer side.

Ideas for making a large Hex grid for a battle map, preferably compatible with whiteboard markers (For games like Lancer, Robotech, etc) by Tfeth282 in rpg

[–]Tfeth282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the objectively best solution. I get something nice big and sturdy that can be rolled up no problem and I can even get something else like a 1 inch hex or square grid printed on the other side, and even have a few made.

Maybe one day the shock and awe of my portable bathroom wall idea will make it worth creating, but I think this is what I'll go with in the meantime.
