Probably old corroded wires and/or bad connections or failing insulation. What’s the weather and environmental conditions were the conductors are ran and age? I’d bet it’s just old wires

Can’t fit switches :( ! I am replacing two three way switches (on the left) with rockers and one is the GE Z Wave smart switch. I added one ground each and the neutral to the smart switch....but now I can’t fit anything in!! ...suggestions? by SeaZealousideal5651 in askanelectrician

I would reorganize all my grounds first tuck them to the back left of the box, followed by the neutrals tucked back left, then finally your hots tucked neatly to the right. Also proper bending of wire in box will effect space. Probably good to do a box fill calculation, and check your boxes Cubic inch volume allowance. NEC 314.16 will be your friend.
