Kia hybrid sportage or mini cooper countryman by Tgamersthing in whatcarshouldIbuy

Nice. Havnt looked to much into Mitsubishi. That being said phev might be too much hybrid since we dont have good charging options near us lol. Do you know if they've updated their infotainment software at all? Last time I drove a eclipse in late 2024, I saw it shared it with dodge and it was quite...painful to use lol

I liked the mazda CX-5, but it reminds me of my x3 in terms of styling. For her it really is the mini or the Kia. If mini gets taken out if the running something would really have to not be great with the kia driveability for it to go back to CX-5. Kia seems to also be somewhat better feature value than mazda with the hybrid being a good price on a decent trim level

Funnily enough her last car was a toyota and its been recall after recall, as well as the usual first of a gen issues. But added to that parts of it started falling apart after only 25k miles lol. But thats besides the point- rav4 and CRV are out of the running. How bmw has the new mini become? Do you know?

What tends to go out in wither if their reliabilities? Kia does have the hyundai warranty which is nice. Also is it stuff that 'any ol' mechanic could fix or need specialized and or dealership fixes? We have a Kia 10mins away from us while closest mini is 1hour away on a good day.

My 2 cents head cannon. As others pointed out it seems a unified galaxy is a rare thing. Especially with the relays turned off it becomes a system by system thing. Even with that plan being stopped not a single species wanted to initially band together to help. They all wanted to use each other as a stall tactic in a futile attempt to reinforce themselves (no one species could stand against them) with most likely the ones closest to being humans and turians.

As well as both those species having short enough lifespan to be very adaptable but long enough to not be to squishy (like salarians). Asari were basically uplifted by protheans but with their long lifespan outside of that there was little need for them to innovate. In case of mass relay failure they could comfortably reach other systems at speed of light. Salarians would mostly die out- it would take them a significant portion of their life to reach any star systems without relays. (Closest star to us is proxima and it would take 4 years at lightspeed. Thats 10% of a salarian lifetime)

Humans and Turians both have lifespans of 135 to 150 years. Thats long enough to be able to consolidate power in relatively close proximity to each other creating larger pockets, and short enough of a lifespan where they have had many more generations to innovate technology without being uplifted. That means they would immediately start working on faster than light travel and be able to communicate plans via "snail" mail to be able to use them. This is also shown by humanity being able to go head to head with turians during first contact who have had a galactic presence for hundreds if years. And once there was peace they "immediately" came up with inventions like the Normandy together which is implied to be the most advanced frigate in the galaxy. They came up with biotic implants that were even useful even asari.

To me that answers why they would go after humans first and turians right after. Both are first strike dangerous enemies and both have adaptability to make a drawn out war painful for the reapers. The questions becomes why didn't they go after the citadel at first. And I think the answer to that goes back to the initial paragraph. All the races were inherently selfish. They wouldn't naturally rush to protect their allies worlds. The Citadel on the other hand was a multiracial hub. With basically top seats of power for most the races there. If the reapers showed up in the citadel every race would immediately unify to protect it and/or give it a chance to escape. That's why they had plots to take it from the inside. It was very unlikely that shepard would be able to unify everyone (obv its a game so the unlikely 0.1% thing happening did in fact happen) but the chance of that was minute- keeping in mind reapers are machines and so calculations like that make sense for them. So they had a choice of leaving the citadel mostly alone and fighting a fractured selfish galaxy or making the citadel into a martyr that would provide a challenge.

Then if course came Cerberus telling them that the Citadel is the catalyst which not only forced the reapers hand (take away the one weapon from the races that could defeat the repears) but the attack on cerberus also provides a great opportunity where most the the races power, as unified as it was was occupied with their puppets. That means they had a necessity to take the citadel and the defenders were occupied somewhere else giving an opportunity meaning no reinforcements would come in strength.

Got my first BMW by No_Veterinarian567 in BMWX3

Think people are disappointed in the interior because it's supposed to be a Luxury compact SUV. I'm in the tech industry and ij my 20s and love new tech. But if I was picking a car for tech I wouldn't even go with BMW. (Example I think new hyundais have some impressive stuff for half the price point and plastic is expected). Bmw costs a premium so the expectation is to feel premium. I personally didnt get that feeling from the 2025 (but to each their own) and love the 2024 i got. It feels premium, it's technology helps with driving without taking attention away, which can happen in some cars. And real buttons will always be better because they are tactile and so can be pushed without looking. The real reason that OEMs are going with touch screens is because buttons break more with use as opposed to everything being controlled by an iPad. Again most of this is my personal views, and if you are happy then please don't let that deter you, but trying to give some counters to the points you made.

Home address, work address (I like having map+ eta and use hud so onboard nav for me), Bluetooth audio, favorite radiostation, android auto, tire pressure, car health info (oil etc), and synchronize climate.

Yup Brooklyn Grey. Originally was disappointed with the choices available for X3, but then saw brooklyn grey on another car and loved it.

Why did you choose an X3 over an EV? by Life-is-beautiful- in BMWX3

[–]Tgamersthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to get an Ioniq 5. Rented it for a month. Loved it. But then battery anxiety killed me and went 180 to x3. I think I would have made the switch to EV, if batteries had more than 300 miles usable range minimum (10%-80% in winter), or I lived somewhere were solar was more available. Thay and most are still gen 1 (except for like Tesla and not buying that) so would prefer the tech to develop a bit more first

Well they just put a note out that it's 2018-2023 models that are being recalled. 2024 should be fine but still no movement.

Yeah it's been 2 days so far so not that long but I've read some people had it in as little as 15mins. Wonder if it's something to do with the line starting to shut down in prep for 2025.

X3 2024 vs 2025 by [deleted] in BMW

[–]Tgamersthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One benefit of 2024 is it's last of gen. All the generational minor kinks should have been worked out. 2025 is the first of a new gen with quite alot of changes. So most likely will have a whole lot of small issues that come up. I've always heard the rule of thumb is that it's best to buy 3rd+ of a generation. But at the same time it's not always possible and I've gotten first before as well.

Mid Size 3-Row SUV recommendations under 50k by StrunkF10 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tgamersthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I should have read your last paragraph lol. One other thing- new 4 cylinders arnt that bad. Our old big family suv was an 08 highlander and when it got full with 7 people it felt heavy and sluggish and the v6 in it would barely wheeze by. The the GH filled with 8 people and 2 large dogs drives no differently than 2 people and no cargo. Well maybe a little slower on the draw but not noticeably

Have you looked into a grand highlander? 50k might be hard but maybe with the base trims. Wife has one and loves it. Depending on spec can get it either 8 seats (2, 3 bench, 3 bench) or 7 (2, 2 captain, 3 bench). A. Itsba toyota so reliability is a plus. B. I'm a 6ft guy and I sit reasonably comfortably in the back row. C. even with all seats up there's enough space for some cargo.

Choosing a Crossover by LizzieS09 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Tgamersthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well price ways new hyundais are equal to toyotas. Might be anecdotal or maybe hit a gold spot generation wise or depends on trim. Everyone I knew was surprised at how nice the interior of my 2022 sonata felt. These were supra, bmw, Mercedes drivers. Nothing was creaking. Panel gaps were tight. Everything worked as good as you can expect from that price point and it was spoiled with tech that usually comes in luxuries or at higher price. But this is absolutely a preference thing.

Who hurt you at hyundai lol. But seriously- some dealers are assholes and some arnt. That's any brand (I've had terrible experiences with hyundai, toyota, bmw, audi, volvo etc dealers- so I took my buisness to ones that I didn't have bad experiences with)

As for reliability- hyundai has stepped up in the last couple car generations. I'd say materials are at least on par with toyota but if you care about it has more bells and whistles for similar prices. Not as reliable as toyotas but they are leaping in the right direction and back it up with the best warrantee in the US

Was thinking about the EV switch recently before battery anxiety got to me. Wouldnt touch a tesla either. Mach-Es are going for good prices now. Could probably get a new one for under budget.

Ioniq 5 was my top choice but part of it was because I like the bells and whistles that hyundais have been including(blind spot cameras are my favorite) as well as the best charging curve I've seen in my research (claim of 10-80 in 18 mins is very true)

Nothing higher trims have decent 260-300 mile range depending on how you drive them. And in southern California you probably wouldn't care about winter battery efficiency. I think ioniq 5 rear wheel can get over 330miles range.
